Commercial Description:
Lost Continent Double IPA has an astonishing three pounds of hops per barrel in the kettle and another pound per barrel of "dry-hops" added after fermentation, bringing this beer to 90+ IBUs. Starting with an original gravity of 22˚ Plato (1.088 SG), this is a full-bodied beer weighing in at 8.0% ABV. The hops provide citrusy, resinous spiciness, making this beer a great match for any bold food. Try it with prime rib, Cajun blackened pork or chicken, Thai, Indian or Vietnamese cuisine.

Bottle. Pours a murky amber color with a decent, foamy, clingy, beige head that lasts. Taste is of hops, citrus, fruit, pine, caramel and some malt. A little alcohol in the finish. Similar aroma. Nice bitterness. Creamy body. Easy to drink. Leaves me wanting more.

12oz bottle shared with davinci. Pours a slightly hazed golden with a thin frothy white head. Aroma is oxidized but still nice, rich sweet honey and caramel, still pretty potent pnw hops, a bit resious, piney. Flavor follows but is sharpely tart and brightly sweet, juicy, sugary, candy like. Medium bodied, gritty, corse very fluffy carbonation.

Tap at Anchor Bar, Wichita.
Pours a deep cheddar orange with a nice head and lacing. Aroma is crisp, sweet and sour grapefruit and pine sap. Flavor is floral hops with a rosy orange juice finish. Average tingly moutthfeel. Too light and floral.

Poured wth a big, off white, foamy, frothy, soap bubble head and some lace. Color is a slightly hazy amber. Aroma is of course hoppy, Fresh qualities in the nose too. Flavor is bigger with some of grapefruit qualities that personally, I’m not too big on. Body is quite good and so is carbonation. The piquant grapefruit thing is overdominant for me, but technically very well done. Finish is the same.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a very lightly hazy, dark, burnt-orange amber hue. A frothy, spongy head of eggshell colored foam. Thick, ribbony swaths of lacing cling very hard to the glass. The aroma shows a monstrous, buttery, toffee malt base, with notes of honey and orange marmalade. Grapefruit and pine hops are potent, but outshined by the hefty, boozy, sweet malt. Flavors show a stark contrast between those huge honey-toffee malts and resinous, piny, orange-grapefruit hops. Traces of buttery diacetyl detract from things a bit, and the alcoholic heat proves obtrusive. The body is heavy and sticky, drinking slow and sugary. This one really falls short for me. It reminds me of 2 year old Hopslam, and that’s not a good thing.

Bottle courtesy of BückDich. Clouded orange color. Smell is huge sweet hops. Taste is largely sweet. Bready with bitter on the finish. Not over the top hops but an obvious high IBU.

Bottle... Poured hazy orange with a thick white head, nice lacing and retention. Zesty, pepper-like hops and grains on the nose. Well carbonated. Noticeable alcohol and bitter hops, floral bouquet to it. Fruity and nice esters. Like an overly hopped barleywine. Balanced, malt finish.
