Commercial Description:
Lost Continent Double IPA has an astonishing three pounds of hops per barrel in the kettle and another pound per barrel of "dry-hops" added after fermentation, bringing this beer to 90+ IBUs. Starting with an original gravity of 22˚ Plato (1.088 SG), this is a full-bodied beer weighing in at 8.0% ABV. The hops provide citrusy, resinous spiciness, making this beer a great match for any bold food. Try it with prime rib, Cajun blackened pork or chicken, Thai, Indian or Vietnamese cuisine.

12 oz bottle-trade w/ditmier-orange color w/a slight white head but great lacing which lasted thru the brew. Aroma of floral hops, citrus, & wheat. Strong grapefruit/ hop flavor up front kind of kicks you in the teeth, but it’s not an offensive hop bomb you can’t enjoy. Has a little bit of a wheat or spice on the finish which reminds me a little bit of a Hefe & this helps keep the beer in balance. Don’t get me wrong...this is a DIPA for sure & it has plenty of hop, but it’s very drinkable. Long full hop finish which really came out as it warmed a little. Good winter warmer! Thanks Eric...this was a great bonus beer!

12oz bottle. Pours a nice copper color with a big white head and lots of lace left in the glass. Aroma is pine, spice and citrus. Taste has spice and malt with hops. Not a over the top DIPA at all. To sweet, but very drinkable.

Bottle: Poured a copper color with a nice head. The aroma was pine and malts. The flavor was very hoppy, pine, sweet malts, and a bitter end. Overall, pretty good.

Copper pour with a generous head. Appearance showcases active legs. Cask like appearance. Aromas of piney hops with a good caramel backing. Sweeter IIPA. Slight alcohol burn in flavor. Nothing to write home about, but it is drinkable.

Bottle. Pours clear amber with a large, creamy off-white head, mostly lasting with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, cookie, caramel), heavy hop (flowers, pine, citrus), average yeast (sweat) with notes of light alcohol, apple, apricot, and pear. Full bodied, creamy texture, lively carbonation, and a bitter finish. Long duration, light sweetness, moderate acidity and bitterness.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium to dark yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, toasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit, apricot), with notes of turpentine, walnut, shrimp. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, moderately acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, moderately acidic, moderately bitter, unclean. Medium body, syrupy texture, soft/lively carbonation, moderately alcoholic, lightly astringent. Strange off notes that made my stomach clench up a little bit every time I took a whiff (the body’s way of telling the brain "don’t drink this", perhaps?). Syrupy, sour, and dirty tasting. An unpleasant experience.

Dark orange hue with thin ring of white head, sticky lacing. Nose is pine resin and thick bread malts and light citrus. Flavor is a thick balanced DIPA with plenty of rich malty backbone to complement the sticky resiny hop flavor, touch of grass, orange citrus, honey, and caramel. Full-bodied, chewy texture, medium carbonation. A big and thick DIPA with lots of flavor and balance, not a hop bomb at all, borders on the barleywine style.
