Commercial Description:
Lost Continent Double IPA has an astonishing three pounds of hops per barrel in the kettle and another pound per barrel of "dry-hops" added after fermentation, bringing this beer to 90+ IBUs. Starting with an original gravity of 22˚ Plato (1.088 SG), this is a full-bodied beer weighing in at 8.0% ABV. The hops provide citrusy, resinous spiciness, making this beer a great match for any bold food. Try it with prime rib, Cajun blackened pork or chicken, Thai, Indian or Vietnamese cuisine.

12oz. foil-topped bottle. Very little head on the pour. Murky golden color. Aroma was on the sweet side, which was a little troubling for a brew aiming to be a hop monster. More hops are present in the flavor, thank goodness, although there is still a lot of malt sweetness pervading. Allowing the beer to warm a bit after pouring does cut this impression a bit. There’s a fair amount of citrus and pine tang on the back of the tongue, but the overall mouthfeel is just a bit lacking. I wonder if letting this one sit for about 4-6 months might help it out a bit. Not bad, but needs some refining.

Disappointingly pale golden color on the pour. The head was short and white. Thin lacing. Aroma is of fading pine and floral hops. A bit of citrus and alcohol. The flavor is astringent, kind of harsh. There’s citrus and pine in there with some boozy heat. Relatively thin mouthfeel. A bit of a mess.

Bottle courtesy of tytoanderso. Thanks Ty! Pours a just hazy golden orange with a thick creamy white head. Big citrus and light earthy pine. Medium bodied, lightly sweet with some caramel and citrus notes. Big grapefruit and quinine bitterness. Pretty solid, very tasty.

Not sure I’d classify this as a DIPA - at least it doesn’t come across that way. Pours a clear orange with a smallish head. Not a lot of hops on the nose - smells more like a normal pale. Lots of malts for this style. More hops in the flavor, and it’s tasty, but it doesn’t really offer much in the way of "wow," and I’d probably put it below most of the "meh" DIPAs I’ve had.

orange copper pour with a tight medium creamy head. Aroma is citrus and pine hop over toasty caramel malt. Flavour has some candied fruit, piney bitterness, some alc.

Special thanks to beastiefan2k for sharing this bottle with me.
12oz bottle, gold foil, sweet label showing compass points in gold. Pours orange color. Aroma of a slightly oxidized malt. Nice hop. Flavor is a strong alcoholic, sweet cotton candy malt. Big hop. Bold citrus. Lingering bitterness.
My 75th Imperial/Double IPA.

On tap during Hopfest at Brouwer’s. Pours an orange amber with no head. Aroma is a bit sour citrus. Taste is slightly lactic and funky, with apparent alcohol, pines, and bubblegum. All the flavors seem to be competing.

Bottle thanks to ditmier. Pour is a wonderful looking cloudy orange with a quickly dissipating white head. Aroma is citrus and pine hops with a nice caramel malt backbone. Flavor is nice malt/hops combo up front; mostly pine hop. The finish is a bit chemical but also nicely hoppy. This exceeded my expectations a little bit. Solid brew
