Commercial Description:
Lost Continent Double IPA has an astonishing three pounds of hops per barrel in the kettle and another pound per barrel of "dry-hops" added after fermentation, bringing this beer to 90+ IBUs. Starting with an original gravity of 22˚ Plato (1.088 SG), this is a full-bodied beer weighing in at 8.0% ABV. The hops provide citrusy, resinous spiciness, making this beer a great match for any bold food. Try it with prime rib, Cajun blackened pork or chicken, Thai, Indian or Vietnamese cuisine.

12 oz bottle courtesy of ditmier. Thanks Eric. Pours a cloudy copper-orange color with a small off-white head that has fair retention and some lacing. The aroma is soft with caramel and a bit of melon. Not much of a nose really. The flavor is better with caramel, subtle oranges, melons and a taste of pine on the back-end. The palate was uneven, starts thin, but builds to a malty-sticky conclusion. The finish is medium in duration and biter-sweet. Not a bad little IPA, very tasty. I’m not so sure that my sample was all that fresh, I must try again with a known fresh bottle.

Pours a hazy medium amber with light tan head. Nose has mixed tropical fruits and a light hop herbal quality. Palate offers plenty of mixed fruits again, with a pleasing sweet/sour taste, and a juicy hop finish. The aftertaste is very hop juicy as well.

12 oz bottle from Bier Stein. Possibly the first 12er I’ve ever seen with foil. Pours out a dark orange with a tan head and lots of lacing. Aroma is full of citrus fruits, oranges, grapefruit etc and a bit of sweet malt at the finish. Flavor is mostly citrus bursting through with a bit of a caramel malt finish. Decent hop bomb, not a bad beer at all.

(draft). Cloudy copper color. Medium off white head, which is mostly diminishing. Citrus hop aroma and flavor. Slick texture. Avg duration. Heavy carbonation. Spare lacing.

Bottle from Sun Devil. Pours a bright copper color with a trim off-white head. Smells of waxy grapefruit and brown sugar. Aggressive in flavor with the taste of caramel, citrus, and hotness. Approaches a barleywine in the presence of alcohol. Strong, but not well balanced.

Bottle. Poured a really nice murky and rich amber-orange; creamy, off white head. Aroma of chewy caramel, pine, citrus, sweet malt and fruit. Pretty spot on aroma. I liked the flavor because it was both balanced and tasty, while always being easy to drink. Resiny pine and citrus, with a good dose of caramel background. On the sweeter side, but not overly so. Oily and creamy palate. An almost sessionable IIPA.
