Commercial Description:
Lost Continent Double IPA has an astonishing three pounds of hops per barrel in the kettle and another pound per barrel of "dry-hops" added after fermentation, bringing this beer to 90+ IBUs. Starting with an original gravity of 22˚ Plato (1.088 SG), this is a full-bodied beer weighing in at 8.0% ABV. The hops provide citrusy, resinous spiciness, making this beer a great match for any bold food. Try it with prime rib, Cajun blackened pork or chicken, Thai, Indian or Vietnamese cuisine.

Pours a hazy orange bronze with a well-lacing froth of white head. Aroma of fresh resiny citrusy hops and some sweet caramely malt along with a touch of fruity esters. Starts with good malty fullness and well-balanced with fresh grapefruity hops and a touch of citric tartness. Has good complexity and hides its alcohol well. A more malt-heavy IIPA, but certainly enjoyable.

Pours a hazy amber with a thin white head. Smells of citrus, dry malt. Tastes of grapefuit, pineapple, orange, dry malt. Big hoppiness. Nicely balanced.

bottle. syrupy and sugary, no surprise, but at least somewhat clean in the malt department. sticky and syrupy body, heavy and weighty. honey and pine, some light citrus, light solvent notes. clean and simple, while not excellent it’s thankfully drinkable.

A thick appearing liquid, hazy dark golden to amber in color. Moderate, but stable heavy cream colored head. Grapefruit and juicyfruit aromas. Bits of toffee and resin. Thick and chewy. Husky malt and white grapefruit flavors. Resin floats in and out. Really thick. Finish is a bit grassy. Alcohol comes out a touch along with some more husky grain in the linger. Nearly a meal in itself.

Bottle: Pours a hazy orange color with a white head. The nose is sweet and hoppy with lots of earthy notes, alcohol and syrupy maltiness. The flavor shows a lot of promise in the bitterness department but the large body overpowers this and it seems a little middle-of-the-road for a IIPA. I had high hopes for this one, being one of their highest gravity beers to date. Sweeter finish and a thick overall impression.

Cloudy orange with a lasting off-white head. Weak aroma with orange, and toffee. Sweet malty flavour, some orange notes, a little alcohol and medium bitterness
