Commercial Description:
Our Moose Juice® Stout is brewed with dark roasted malts, including chocolate malt, that makes this British Isles stout an especially smooth "user friendly" beer. Chinook and Cascade hops offset the sweetness of the rich dark malts and add a dryness that gives this dark beer palate appeal and a full, lip-smacking finish.

12 oz. bottle from 2002. Pours pitch black with a brown head. Strong burnt malt, musty bready smell. Medium bodied, it has an airy, fluffy mouthfeel. Very strong flavor of roasted malts and black coffee. Has an acidic strong black coffee bitterness to finish. An unusual American stout in that it’s not sweet at all. Quite nice.Feb 2004

Coffee, roasty, thin consistency. Very good color. A chocolate-y aftertaste.

Dark oily color with a nice tan film of head & lacing. The aroma is roasted with tar and mocha, lightly apparent hops; from the aging perhaps. Also some licorice, vanilla and fruity dust. The flavor has a good balance between astringent roast, residual sugars and hop bitterness. Finishes mild, robust and chocolatey. Good stout, too bad it’s not in production any more. Fucking Moosehead Brewing! Thanks a ton mitch!

Brown with little head and oily lacing. Roast aromas with some bitter hops and coffee. Some chocolate and a touch of tobacco. The flavors are pretty much in line with the aromas. The chocolate comes out quite a bit more. Bitterness is milder. The roast is happy. Smooth and silky palate. Smooth finish of malts.

Mild stout. A little bitter, but not too much. Nutty flavour. Quite roasted.

The aroma is fantastic with notes of chocolate, coffee, and roasted malt. The color is black and it has a chocolate brown head though disappearing. The flavor is of roasted malt and dark bitter chocolate, in the end it turns to coffee and get a little acidic. A really good beer.

I thought this was a little bit thin for a Stout. Not bad, but it won't rate at the top without a little more body and aroma. Drinkable and pleasant beer.
