bsp77 (191), Minnesota, USA Oct 30, 2009 Poured from bottle into Nonic Imperial Pint.
Dark, semi-hazy reddish amber with decent head.
Aroma of sweet floral malts with citrus hop tinge.
Semi-sweet malts upfront, turning more toward citrus hops in the middle, and finishing with a touch of bitterness. The bitterness seems almost more English than American.
Somewhat high carbonation, medium body, surprisingly dry finish considering the upfront sweetness.
Much more interesting than the average amber (probably due to the dryness), and ultimately very drinkable. Pleasantly surprised by this.
After my second bottle, I feel this is almost a cross between an American Amber and an English Bitter.
agillespie81 (190), Denver, Colorado, USA Jul 14, 2009 Deep amber color...fluffy head that laces well. Balanced aroma, with a bold maltiness and noticeable hop undertones. Flavors of caramel and brown sugar are very much present in the front...mouthfeel is slightly crisp. Back has somewhat of a floral hop character, but still maintains a nice balance. Finish is pretty mild, with a slight hop tang. A very full flavored, yet extremely balanced brew...one of the best ambers I’ve tasted. esjaygee (1467), Oak Creek, Wisconsin, USA Jul 5, 2009 Amber with a medium slowly dissipating beige head that laces nicely. Aroma of caramel, grains, dust and a hint of citrus. Taste of citrus, mild caramel malt and some vegetation. Pretty mild on the taste front and mildly over carbonated. drfabulous (1212), Columbia, Missouri, USA Jun 24, 2009 Malt. English-ish in style. Lack of hop taste Amber ish all around.. Decent overall. HopBackDoc (393), Hatboro, Pennsylvania, USA Jun 3, 2009 Pours a deep mahogany with tan head. Aroma of caramel malts, brown sugar, roasted grains. Flavor was rich with sweet malts that were offset by a bitter hop profile creating a great complexity and fullness to the taste. Sweet and crisp to start and finishing on the dry side. Very nice American style amber. Peterlemonjelo (31), Birmingham, Alabama, USA May 1, 2009 A - Pretty beer. Light caramel/redish tint, decent head, nice lacing. Lots of carbonatoin, maybe a little too much
S - A very well balanced smelling beer. Malty bready aroma balance with floral hop aroma. Nice.
T - Lacking in taste after such a fine smell. not a bad tasting beer. Very well balance, as an amber should be, just would like to have bigger flavors in my beers. Malty flavors on the front balanced out with hop bitterness, finishing with sweet & bitter.
M - Thin, not a very substantial mouthfeel. High carbonation is prickly on the tongue but not a lot of body.
D - Very drinkable, but an average beer.
Would drink again but wouldn’t actively seek. Elwood (654), Leesburg, Virginia, USA Apr 29, 2009 12 oz. bottle. Pours a deep amber color with a creamy, beige head. Malty nose wtih notes of nuts, pine, and a hint of toast. Medium carbonation with a medium mouthfeel. Sweet malt, a bit of mineral, pine resin, soap, and some roasted malt round out the palate. Medium finish with the hops lingering on the tongue. Light lacing all the way down the glass. Certainly a respectable amber. ditmier (1019), Boise, Idaho, USA Mar 13, 2009 2009 Bottle - Pours a dk amber with a thin tan head...aroms is malty wheat, dark fruit...flavour is fairly straight forward, bitter but not very hoppy, cereal grains, not much else...meh...
