Has a nice hop, grapefruit and pine taste, with a slightly bitter finish. Fruit, caramel and roasted malt also show up in the taste. Has a nice hoppy/pine aroma. Satisfying and pretty easy to drink. Would be nice to have on a cold day. I wouldn’t mind buying this again. JPDIPSO (4928), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Oct 23, 2008 Dark orange/copper color with a moderate, beige head. Earthy raw grain scents dominate. Hints of citric floor cleaner. Light bread and herbal hops also in the mix. LIght caramel and some fermentation flaw that I catch slightly in the scent and also a bit here in the flavor. Perhaps a slight worty/under-attenuated thing. Perhaps it is just so grainy that I am imagining things. Then again perhaps it is that this is my second least favorite styles. As it warms some spices come out and make this more interesting. As it warms it reminds me of an english bitter, with light earthy malt and mild spicy hops. This is gaining some favor and flavor. mtnbrwr (4), , Idaho, USA does not count | 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Sep 27, 2008 This beer is not what it used to be. When I first tasted it, it was much darker, too roasty and not what you think of when you think of an Amber ale. Today it pours a deep amber, almost red color. It has a fine, light tan head that rouses easily. The aroma is balanced, nothing over the top, with some subtle, earthy hop aroma and caramel malt rising when swirled. The flavor is well balanced, not too hoppy, not too malty. I could drink a few of these, and probably will. Overall, this is a very nice beer--highly drinkable without sacrificing flavor or mouthfeel. Good Job! douglas88 (1646), Salt Lake City, Utah, USA

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Mar 15, 2008 Pours a brown amber color with red hues when held to the light. The head pours out thick but quickly dissipates. Eventually is disappears all together. There is limited lace but it also doesn’t last. The smell is interesting. Overall a light aroma but some characteristics of caramel and apples. At first taste the beer has a sweet malt that has some limited roasted qualities. Quickly other flavors come out. Some toffee and buttery characteristics. Also a little tart with a apple taste. As the beer warms that taste turns into a slight vegetable tang. The hops are a light with more earthy qualities. The body is medium but there are hints of a watered down nature. Still the malt backs up the taste.
