At first when too cold the aromas appear metallic, but when it warms up a bit, it develops a roasted caramel and rich resin scent. It has a classic amber taste showing rich malts with a nice mild bitter aftertaste. The feel is full and thick - quite pleasant. frylock (1026), Buffalo, New York, USA

| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Apr 4, 2005 Lightly hazed reddish amber hue, decent head formation. Sweet caramel aroma. Malty palate with dry overlapping tones, caramel and toasted chestnut, moderate bitterness. Better than I thought it would be. DarkElf (2681), La Jolla, California, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Mar 24, 2005 (12 oz bottle: BevMo in La Jolla, CA) Teton Ale is a really good looking amber. It pours a deep ruddy amber color, and with a perfect 1-inch head. With the gorgeous color, I was expected a pretty nice tasting beer. I hate it when my expectations are dashed. It’s moderately malty with some light roast, and it’s reasonably flavorful, but the beer lacks any depth or complexity. Hops has a pretty minimal impact here, with just a slight presence of bitterness, which is probably from the modest roastiness, not hops. It’s minimally sweet as well, resulting in a dry mouthfeel. It could be worse, of course, such as showing a cheap, sugary sweetness, or it could simply taste bad. This doesn’t taste bad, just boring, and that earns this beer an average flavor rating. The nose is much different from the flavor, revealing some light roast, but mostly a strange plastic and floral aroma. It’s not bad, just really odd. And as I continue to drink this beer, the head continues to maintain a thin, but full topping, and deposits plenty of delicate, swiss cheese lacing on the glass. Good looking beer, otherwise totally unremarkable. CaptainCougar (5526), Rockville, Maryland, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Jan 18, 2005 Pours a clear copper mahogany with a thick, frothy, and heavily lacing off-white head. Aroma is pretty subtle with some sugary caramel sweetness and a faint touch of cascade hops. Body has a decent thickness to it and good carbonation to support a milld sweetness balanced with a semi-dry hoppier finish. A very smooth drinking beer with decent flavor for an amber. Dark amber, large cream colored head of moderate sized bubbles. Some lace apparent.
Nose is sweet and caramel, maybe some roated malt in minimal qualtities. No discernable hop aroma.
Thin mouthfeel, malt bittenress apparent, and caramel, nutmeg flavors.
Finish is dry and bitter.
A middlin beer with no outstanding qualities. robertsreality (2460), Minnesota, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Sep 13, 2004 Dark Reddish Amber Coloring. Aroma Was Complex... Some Yeast, Malt. Fruit...but Pretty Bland in Flavor....Definitly a Potentially Good Beer, Just Doesn’t Hold the Kick. badgerben (3605), Blaine, Minnesota, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 11/20 | Sep 10, 2004 Pours an incredibly dark amber color, much darker than one would expect. It has the aroma of sweet malts and fruit, almost like a Belgian. The taste... isn’t there. Weird. I hate it when something smells great and then just doesn’t have taste.
