Commercial Description:
Workhorse Wheat is an American-style hefeweizen (literally, yeast-wheat) ale made with Idaho barley and wheat. It is pale in color and light in body, smooth and easy drinking with just a hint of tartness from the wheat. Because is it not filtered, our workhorse wheat is slightly hazy with yeast, rich in B vitamins and other good things.

Bottle:Almost cloudy gold with a minimal white head. Aromas of rubber when it first starts to burn, sweet wheat and yeast. Weird taste - kind of an off bitterness like eating the white part of a celery stalk and besides that - no real flavor. The body is thin and watery. Yeah, this seems to be missing something. I wish it was better for Grand Teton’s sake, but what is one to do?

A little on the grainy side, with some hops present and a dry finish. Not exactly what I expected. Also had a sour tone to the finish. The first beer from Grand Teton that has been subpar.

12 oz bottle. Poured a fairly clear amber, surprising for an "unfiltered wheat" as the label suggests. Fizzy, yellowish head with some lacing, mostly diminishing in about twelve seconds. Bah. Sweet aroma, slightly yeasty, with maybe some cinnamon and woodglue. At first drink, this beer feels like it’s off to a good start, but then all of the flavor disappears abruptly. It’s slightly sweet, kind of floral, but there’s almost none of the flavor that I buy a wheat beer to get. Body is light - would call it spritzy except for the lack of any significant carbonation. Short finish - in fact, so short it finishes before it ever gets going. Fairly disappointing from a brewery I like less and less with every varietal I try. I’ve got five of these left if anyone wants one. Bah.

Tap @ the brewery. Hazy gold/yellow with good sized white head, good lace. Aroma was weak for it was cold. Flavor is clean, spicey, malt/grain with light hops and a dry finish. I suspect a touch of coriander. I found it to be rather watery on the palate.

Bottle from Rayboy. Didn’t I just have this in a bottle with an Old Faithful label on it? Pours gold with a foamy white head. Heavily carbonated and watered down. Not offensive but very average.

This tastes much like GT’s Old faithful - watery. A bubbly white head caps this golden brew. The aroma is mild wheat with a very light herbal hopping. Spritzy mouthfeel. Not much flavor, being pretty much an echo of the nose. Finishes VERY slightly tart and wheaty with a soft, generic hop bitterness.

Bottle. Amber beer with an off-white head. Wheat, clove and citrus aroma. Wheat clove flavor. Lighter bodied. Lingering wheat after the spice. Easy drinking.

Clean and crisp, with some wheaty cereal maltiness. This would make a wonderful gateway beer for someone with a lesser palate, but this just comes across, as weak and wimpy. Lightly citric and watery.
