Commercial Description:
Sweetgrass India Pale Ale has been a GTBC staple since early 2002. Brewed solidly in the American IPA style, Sweetgrass is crisp and fragrant with a generous yet smooth hop character. XX Sweetgrass is all that twice over, with double the malt and double the hops--an astonishing three pounds per barrel in the kettle and another pound per barrel of "dry-hops" added after fermentation. The hops provide citrusy, resinous spiciness, making this beer a great match for any bold, flavorful food.

Sampled at the RBSG 07 Grand Tasting. Brown body with a hoppy aroma. Lots of malt in the body but still recognizable as an IPA.

RBSG 2007. Did Skyview bring this too? I must have camped out at his table for a while. Copper color with no head. The aroma is oddly of sweet hops, if such a thing is possible. The taste is much more subdued than the usual bombastic DIPAs, but it nicely mixes the orange and citrus hops with the piney ones. Strong malt body.

Good looking hazy amber color with frothy light tan head. Tight, sparkly carbonation fills up palate nicely.Crisp citrusy hops. Not overpowering at all. Finishes smooth with some alcohol notes and roasted malts. I enjoyed the subtleness of this brew. Very nice and fresh tasting!

Swingtop 2006 edition. Hazy and ruby. Solid layer of clinging white head. Sugary sweet aromas with a modest alcohol burn. Fruity hop undertones as well. Full bodied and super smooth. Then a big bold alcohol punch. Big bitter grapefruit flavor that hits then mellows to a sweet sticky lingering finish. Wonderful citrus note. Liked better than the Blue Dot. This is money.

Pours with an orange-amber body topped by a medium thick head with some lacing. It’s slightly sweet yet hoppy with some citrus notes and a touch of pine. Pretty well balanced for an Imperial IPA. Medium bodied and slightly tingly from the carbonation.

A copper colored beer. A faint citrus aroma with some yeast present. This was pretty thin for an Imperial IPA. Some grapefruit and caramel present in the flavor. Not very bitter or exciting for that matter. Oh well at least I picked up another state!

Pours a transparent copper orange with a thin, wispy white head. Aroma of fairly fresh grapefruity hops and lightly sweet caramel malt. Body starts with some sugary sweet caramel candy malt with a drier, mildly earthy and citrusy hop balance. A decent IIPA.
