this beer lacked hop complexity and almost seemed like a weak ipa not even nearing dipa standards...mild citrus hop aroma and more malt sweeness than the hops can back up. not so good....

Oct 8, 2008 2008 vintage from douglas88 in trade- many thanks sir! Served in tulip- poured slightly turbid glazed over copper with orange tint, low carbonation, hearty foamy white head formed and laced very nicely. Aroma of pine and citrus, with more than enough hops for everyone. Hits the mouth with a medium body, malt is a bit underwhelming, hops are a bit weak for a double IPA but the mouthfeel is very nice. Finish has a bit of cream and hop twang. Good stuff maynard!!!

Sep 28, 2008 Bottle... NFL Day at dchmela’s in O-Town... Lightly hazed, burnt orange ale with a huge, frothy, off-white head. Fantastic, rocky retention. The aroma presents resinous hops and tons of caramel malt. Full-bodied and velvety with gentle carbonation. Sweet, black tea... bitterness comes in late. Malty/sweet, tongue-numbing finish. Thanks to douglas88 for providing this bottle of beer!

Sep 7, 2008 Crushed with Jakebra. In a hot tub (non-gay situation). As it warms, it gets better. intimidated at first, but the flavor wasn’t all there. A little over-malted, but still aight. Deserves a good reputation.

I believe this came from Mike as well. Coming from a brewery that I have never heard of this was a nice discovery. It is not the best western IPA but if it were available in my area as the local brew it would certainly be a choice for summer evenings.
Aroma / Appearance - A one finger white head surged above a carbonated amber brown body. The IPA presented itself with florally bright notes including resin and sweetness. Without being over the top it was balanced.
Flavor / Palate - Bittersweet caramel, butterscotch and pine blended into a drinkable balanced brew. One of those sessionable releases that you get in every part of the country it is a great daily drinker but not one to seek out aggressively.

Aug 5, 2008 1l flip-top bottle. Thanks to GrbDg for sharing. Aroma: Sweet maltiness with a light brown sugar note. Some light piney and citrus notes. Appearance: Medium amber in color and clear. Off-white head was small and foamy with fair retention. Fair lacing. Flavor: Fairly sweet maltiness up front with caramel and a light graininess. Pine and resin hop notes. Bitterness kicks in just enough to balance. Nice dry finish. Palate: Medium bodied. Moderate carbonation. Light alcohol warming in back of mouth. Overall: A pleasant and well balanced IIPA.
