Volo Cask Days 07 Nose is smoke, oak, and strong coffee, darkest brown, small tan head. Taste is oak, alcohol, and almonds. Balanced, light bodied, bitter as can be, quite dry. Very good offering. Thanks Ron.

Cask @ Volo Cask Days 2007: Poured jet black, good beige head. Aroma is rich in oak, coffee, and chocolate, quite inviting. Delivers all the above in the flavour, a little bit mild and light in the mouthfeel, but an enjoyable well done stout regardless. I should track down this one in it’s "regular" state.

[775-20071020] Cask @ Volo Cask Days 2007 (Toronto, ON). Woody coffee aroma. Black brown body with a quick foamy tan head. Coffee flavour has a little bit of wood notes. Medium-full body. Nice stout.

POurs dark black with notes of light roast and some light coffee flavors. The palate shows a very smooth and nice drinking stout that gives hints of coca and coffee.

Also had this at Volo Cask. I really tasted chocolate maybe cocoa or coffee would be more accurate because there was a definate bitterness . Ok palette.

Volo cask days. Ah, the advantage of going both days - I might not have had a chance to get to this one in one day only. Pitch black, with a small brown head. Nice aroma that has the same roast as regular but now also features lots of wood. Sweet taste with again, wood. Medium bodied. I think I would still take the original, which I consider the best stout available to us in Toronto on tap, but this oak chipping thing seems to have made a couple of subtle changes to the beer which are neat. I have never had the regular on cask, just tap, so that would be an interesting comparison.

Cask @ Volo Cask Days. Black body with a small brown head (3+). Roasty, lightly woody aroma dominates over sweet malt base. Flavour has a woody tang to the roasty malt flavour. Average palate seems more full than the usual cask version. Interesting.
