Growler sample. Pours clear amber with a thin beige head. Malty aroma with blueberry. Identical flavor with a semi-sweet finish. Pretty simple, but not bad for a blueberry beer.

A mixed blend of the Northern Light and King Valas Blueberry beers. Tap. Amber color. No smell. Flavor is a bitter watered down flavor of the Blueberry Beer. BLAH!

Sample at the Day Before Labor Day party, from a growler. The beer is a purplish-amber color with a minimal off-white head that disappears quickly. Spotty lacing on the glass. Aroma of mild blueberries and malt. Light body with flavors of artificial blueberries, caramel malt and mild hops. The finish is short and fruity. Overall a lackluster effort from this brewer.

This beer was an interesting color. It was a dark pink/purple color with a thin pink head. Aroma is of blueberries and malt. It had blueberry syrup sweetness to the beer, but not much else to offer.

6/07/2009: It’s pretty obvious that Granite City just added blueberry syrup to their Northern Light Lager to create the "Brewberry" (Blueberry) Ale. Besides the violet color and syrupy sweetness in the aroma, this tastes just like the Norther Light Lager. It has nothing but a generic light, grainy beer flavor. I don’t get any additional fruitiness or much of anything else really. Skip this beer and get one of their decent offerings such as the IPA or Stout!

I double checked the name and it was confirmed to be a blueberry brew by the name "Brewberry". The brew has a clear, ruby red color with a thin purple, filmy head. Aroma is strong of blueberry and carries an amber note with a caramel and Munich malt backbone with some organic hay and grassy hops notes. Flavor starts off with a sweet blueberry pancake/muffin note, moves into a Munich malt middle and then finishes with a grassy hoppiness and blueberry skin tannin-like flavor. Overall too much fruit but balance as a whole was a lot better than I thought it would be with the amber ale characteristics as the base for the fruit. The fruit flavor leans toward the fresh fruit addition than the blueberry syrup flavoring.
