Commercial Description:
A thick creamy head sits atop the opaque blackness of this traditional dry Irish Stout. Roasted chocolate and coffee notes make this beer a great treat.

On draft @ brewpub. Dark brown bordering black with a foamy khaki-colored head that left nice lacing after every sip. Aroma is roasted coffee, ash, and cocoa. Flavor is heavy chocolate, toasted malt, and burnt marshmallow. Run of the mill brewery stout.

Very dark brown, almost black color. Medium to small size foam. Not very much smell to it, except for toasted malt and a hint of chocolate. Not very thick-bodied- kind of disappointing. Has a mild chocolaty roasted taste, and also very dry. Not my favorite stout. Guinness is a better choice.

Draft at Madison. Dark brown, creamy beige head, probably served on nitro. Aroma is not as muted as in some other nitro stouts, some nice roast malts going on. Flavor is roasted malts, some smoke and chocolate on the tail. Smooth, but somewhat thin bodied. A passable Guinness clone.

Tap @ Kansas City location: Jet black with a loooooong lasting tan head. Choco-yeasty aroma and the feel is slick like an oatmeal stout. The flavor is like non-sweet chocolate malt balls. the feel is thin.

On tap in cedar rapids. Pours a thick black, white head. Light aroma for a stout. A lot of roastiness in the flavor, but it’s pretty thin for a stout--almost watery. Dry finish. Meh...

Appearance: black, creamy tan head, solid lace,
Aroma: light roasted malt aroma,
Body: creamy body,
Flavor: rich roasted malt flavor, lots of burnt coffee character, lasting bitterness rises out of the burnt malts,
Overall: too much burnt black coffee for me
