Overly sweet with a weird burnt brown sugar flavor, some dried fruits, I guess...VERY thin and watery...Toffee is probably the predominant flavor, but disappointing.

Tap @ GTMW. Clear ruby brown in color with a sheet of wispy grey for the head. Aroma characterizes this as a barnyard bock, drawing out peat, hay, caramel, toffee and unsweetened chocolate. Served way to cold. Some cocoa powder in the flavor that’s interrupted by a crisp palate sweep. Some chocolate toffee characteristics when all is said and done. Fairly blahzee for a bock.

From the tap in Wichita, KS, this beer was reddish amber in color, sparklingly clear and had a small off-white head that lasted well and left good lacing. There was almost no detectable aroma but persistence finally uncovered a very slight earthy malt aroma. The texture was watery and body very light. The carbonation was also light. It started off with an earthy, slightly sweet malt flavor that faded quickly. the finish was short and somewhat watery.

Dark red with rich sugary taste and maybe toffee. A slight hop hint. Still a thinner beer than expected.

At the Lincoln NE restaurant ... Reddish hue. Cooked brown sugar with a vague caramel tone. Odd tart finish. Very thin body. Unfortunately, this was the best they had to offer. At least the food was good.

Draught, GABF 2003. Body is medium amber. Aroma is lightly malty (cookie, caramel), lightly hoppy (herbs), with light notes of smoke and alcohol. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Wasn’t impressed.

Sampled at the Cedar Rapids location. They called this a Mai Bock. Seemed appropriate for that style. Body is a dark amber with no head. The nose is malty with cherries. The taste is peanuts and apples. A nice change of pace for a Mai bock. It is just dry enough to make it very drinkable.

On tap at Davenport, IA location. Dark red-brown, hazy, with a small bright-white head. Light caramel malt aroma. Maltiness in flavor is lightly sweet with a certain berry sugary sweetness noticeable in the middle. Wheaty, hay and straw finish is mildly sour.
