This was my "South Dakota" rating, taken at the GABF in 2003. The address of the brewery was then changed to that of the corporate office in Minnesota. Dark amber. Coriander, cloves, orange and lemon in the nose, but dominated by banana. A bit lacking of carbonation, but the big banana flavor and bread flavor is nice.

Color is a liquidy off purpley brown with a thin cream colored head thats foamy and fades to leave tiny spots of lace. Smell is a bit faint of sweetish type malts with some raisin and fig, yeast brings out a bit of candy-like notes of toffee and honey glaze. Taste is uneventful unevenness with bland character, weak malts, light raisin and dried fruits of grape and fig, far too sweet, uneven and unpleasant sour notes dart all over. Very light body for a abbey dupple, nearly watery feel and was just plain and boring. This needs alot of help.

MABR-Brown color,Malty aroma ,caramel and light fruit presence.Alcohol upfront in the taste that turns to a malty flavor with a bitter sweet after taste where the alcohol seemed to reappear.very nice brew I wish i could get more.

Copper color. All of the qualities of this beer are subdued. Not much in the aroma, not much in the flavor. What little aroma present in the beer was of roasted wood. heavy on the palate.

Another taste at St. Paul Winterfest 2/8/03. She was very stanky and I think everyone there knew it...including her. Orange in color..sweet but not too sweet. if you know what I mean.

Served at Winterfest in St. Paul, MN on Feb. 8. Sweet, somewhat hoppy aroma. Flavor is way off. Has similar flavor profile to the Schultheiss Original Berliner Weiss. I believe it is better than the Schultheiss (which may excite those who like it), but it still isn't good.
