detroiter (958), Euphoria, Minnesota, USA Jan 15, 2007 Pours clear but quite dark for a red, with very little foam - really just a ring and a film of bubbles on top. Held up to the light, this might be the reddest beer ever. No lacing at all - bummer. The aroma is mild, but very sweet and fruity.
Sweet caramel malt up front with brown sugar, and just when you think it might be too sweet, in come some bitter hops, and just when you think it might become too bitter, the malt returns in the finish. And then the aftertaste is bitter and even dry. Pretty cool stuff, the layered transition from sweet to bitter, and from malt to hop is pretty interesting.
Not quite a medium body, mildly carbonated.
