Commercial Description:
A traditional blend of English Pale Ale and Bitter Stout, brewed separately but, fermented together for extraordinary smoothness and unique flavor. The Black and Tan is a full bodied ale generously hopped. Our classic brewing technique adds to the rich color and creamy head of this old world ale.

Tastes exactly like a real black and tan. Excellent all over the board.

Ok this is good and to me tastes like a real black and tan. I miss the color scheme. A black and tan really evens itself out and you get to good flavors bounceing off instead of blocking out the other. Good beer but not my favorite style of brew.

I think that Grays really tapped this one on the head. At first, I was greeted by a roasty punch in the face, but then was very caught off-guard with the hop bite that I recieved. I liked it quite a bit.

kind of underwhelming at the start but got better towards the bottom. fairly mild and smooth with a little bite. would have been great with a steak!

Ok, to me something about a "Black and Tan" in a bottle doesn't seem right at all, but I got it in a grab bag, so I am trying it. Not bad. One of the better bottled B&T's I have tried. Actually taste more like a coffee stout then a B&T, but good anyway.

12 oz bottle obtained from the Mecca of Wisconsin micros, Woodmans on Gammon Road in Madison (Oct 2005). Pours a clear ruddy amber-maple, with massive slow-decaying fluffy off-white cap...aroma is mostly roasty, nutty (chestnut, pecan), bit of thyme and just a touch of burnt sugar, quite pleasant....body is roasty, lightly burnt and ashy, really gels well with the aroma, toasted nuts showing up late and some nice tarry bitterness with a modicum of very dark chocolate in the finish...body could be fuller but is by no means thin or watery, carbonation level is solid. Along with Berkshire, the best bottled B&T I’ve had.
