UPDATE 3/3/05: musty, malty aroma of primarily nuts and toast. downfalls are it being ever so slightly acidic at first punch, and the aftertaste has a dry grapefruit flavor and feel that i don’t care much for. primarily dry, slightly chewy, grapefruit, with earthy minerals. Grays Granite IPA! uprated overall by 1 point. (this is good, but just not my kind of IPA.) badgerben (3610), Blaine, Minnesota, USA

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 11/20 | Oct 25, 2004 Bottle: Surprisingly deep amber ghue with lasting frothy head and very good lace. The aroma has notes of piney and floral hops, grapefruit and apple, caramel and pale malts, and earthy yeast esters. The taste starts malty and a been bready. The hops are there but subdued more than I would have wanted. The finihs is chalky and dry, with just a bit of bitterness. The taste and feel is a let down. Akin to the British style than the American. Pigfoot (2226), Minneapolis, Minnesota, USA

Perfectly bronze in color, with a fizzy pale beige head that zips dwon to a fine film quickly.
Aroma, vague whispers of soft fruity suggestions hint themselves, ever so shyly, more malty than most in this component as well. Very sweet, even treacly, associations of maple, cherry, and more.
Taste: Nice little fruity hop fandango, a sweet shuffle on the palate, then, alas, it fades into the distance. Tiny trickles of bitterness, some bracing bites on the tongue, but not quite enough. Makes it smooth, easily approachable, and utterly ordinary. Flavor, not un-enjoyable, still lasts for a nice ride, and gives good marks for the finish, the drinkability, though the body thins out too much...yeah, it’s a decent IPA...but, some of us yearn for better than that!

| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Sep 1, 2004 Copper color, creamy head, nice lacing. The aroma is very toasty with balanced hops; like bread! The flavor is medicinal & tangy, light bitterness & buttery malts. Finishes balanced, kinda boring actually. | 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 14/20 | Sep 1, 2004 Mahogany with no head and spotty lacing. Floral and piney hops in the nose. Some caramel and roast come out. A soapiness quality arises. Musky almost. Flavor has the soapiness about it as well. Bitter hops along with the piney ones too. Some metallic notes. Malts of caramel and roast. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Aug 12, 2004 Somewhat dark clear red-orange body. Medium sized off-white frothy head that leaves a soapy lacing. Pleasant dry grapefruit and orange aroma with hints of sweetness. Taste is more of a fruity hoppiness with a weird sour grassy finish.
