This poured a dark brown with red highlights and a fizzy off white head. There was some notes of typical stout aromas. The first taste was way too much carbonation. I warmed this a bit and the taste really evolved. I tastes coffee and bitter chocolate. The finish had a good bitter linger. I have learned an old lesson. You must serve beers at the proper Temp! | 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 2/5 | 6/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Jun 23, 2005 Fizzy body and barely translucent brown in color with dancing bubbles on the sides. Aroma is brown sugar, mocha latte, brownies and chocolate covered raspberries. Flavor is mellowed cold coffee and mildly sweetened dark chocolate. Fairly bland and lacking flavor accents. Body is a little thin, but I guess it’s adequate for a run-of-the-mill sweet stout. Too much carbonation. Finishes like powdered sugar off of a brownie that was born in a middle school cafeteria. jkane (21), USA

Nice roasted malt aroma along with some chocolate. Taste is also of roasted malt, chocolate and coffee, kind of ho-hum. Body is disappointingly thin for an oatmeal stout.
