Strong roasted grain and grinded coffee bean aroma. Burnt chocolate, dark wheat Chex, and rye add depth to the already pleasant aromatics. Almost spritzy mouth feel, which is a little odd, but grows on me as it delivers the creamy chocolate, bitterly smooth coffee, and brown sugar coated oatmeal across my tongue. Dry roasted finish that is lacking any additional flavours, but does nudge me back for another sip, well done. SubstanceT (1091), Saint Louis, Missouri, USA

| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 1, 2003 Pitch black with a light tan head. Smells incredibly strong and rich... thick french roast coffee and licorice, and a small amount of hickory smoke flavor. Feels thick and oily, sludge basically... really impressing me. The oatmeal flavor is mild, not artificial and not transparent. It really tastes like it belongs in this stout. Syrupy and sweet finish rounds out a great sweet stout.
