On tap @ Brewpub sampled both on nitro and carbon. The regular carbon dioxide was a better match for this ale. However, not much going on besides caramel malts. Pretty boring, thin, and uninspired. hopson (596), Williamsville, New York, USA
| 2.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Sep 24, 2007 not my favorite style admitedly, but I found this beer to be lackluster, and not overly flavorful. Aroma was non existent, malt dominated taste with some noble hops thrown in there for a somewhat earthy flavor. Eh. jcwattsrugger (5583), Florida and, New Jersey, USA

(Rating #549) CapFlu (3494), Victoria, British Columbia, Canada

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 29, 2005 4 oz. sample. Clear copper pour with a thin film. Malty aroma, roastiness. Smooth, roasted malt flavors, biscuity. Mildly hoppy, really nice balance. Some sweetness, decent red beer. Available also via nitro pour...I find a distinct metallic taste in the nitro sample. Other characteristics are very similar. DYCSoccer17 (2201), Davis, California, USA
| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 23, 2005 Had two 4 ounce samples of this at the brewpub...1 nitro, 1 not. Metallic semi-sweet peppery aroma which is very faint in both specimens. Transparent amber/copper/red color with a nice off-white head. Bready, malty, douughy, and roasted flavors come through with a mildly hopped bitterness in the end. Flavorful, and good for the particualr style. willblake (2191), Belcamp, Maryland, USA

Fairly earthy, a touch over oxidized with a tinge of metal. Lifeless body, sweet and watery. Alas, I’ve had worse in far less attractive surroundings.
