phishpond417 (1861), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Nov 21, 2008 Pours a dark copper colour with a medium sized almond coloured head. Aroma is very rich, slightly nutty with hints of coffee grounds and earth. Taste is full, creamy with faint notes of pepper, wood and berries. troyc (1173), Lubbock, Texas, USA Nov 16, 2008 (Tap) Pours a clear brown color with a very thin white head and good lacing. Dry malty aroma of toffee and biscuits. Sweet malts also in the taste, with a minimal amount of hops to impart a dry finish. A well made altbier that could have been made a little better with a more robust body. Skyview (4006), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA Nov 2, 2008 Sampled on draught at the downtown Madison, Wisconsin brewpub. Pours a semi-clear dark brown brew with a thin off-white head that slowly dissipates to a thin white ring and spotty lacing. Aroma of roasted caramel malt, a touch of smoked wood, floral hops and a touch of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, very light carbonated with flavors of old cellar caramel malt, floral hops and a touch of toffee. Finish is semi-dry with a lingering dry malt aftertaste. badgerben (3584), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Sep 23, 2005 Dark brown color with a thin head. Dusty aroma, like a dry and harvested farm field.
