Ughsmash (3978), Waukesha, Wisconsin, USA Apr 1, 2008 On tap at the downtown location. Poured translucent amber with a well-retained creamy white head and lacing. The aroma picked up sweet toasted grains upfront with caramel.. accented by mild pine and sweet herbal notes. The flavor was on the simpler side with toasty grains and caramel for the most part.. rye spicage on the back-end along with slightly tacky medicinal notes.. quite tasty save for that last part. Lighter-bodied and fairly well-balanced on the palate. Decent stuff. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Mar 17, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear medium to dark orange color. Head was thin, off white and left some lace behind. Not much in the nose other than some subdued noble hop. Dry and light bodied on the tongue with a hint of toffee, bland grain, and grassy hops. Crisp, clean, and unoffensive without much personality. JPDIPSO (4863), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Dec 17, 2004 Dark amber color with a smaller light beige head. Dry grain with hints of mild hops and sweet malt. More a vienna style then a premium lager. Mild toasted nuts and dry slightly herb hops in the back. Drinkable, but nothing real exciting. jewedekind (450), Middleton, Wisconsin, USA Nov 23, 2004 (From notes of 11/17) Nice rich clear brown (don’t know what happened to badgerben’s pint). Slight to medium head. Slight nutty aroma. Flavor is more of the same with a nice balance to slightly sweet. I find this odd to be called a lager. Seems more like a nut brown, with some estery notes. Quite quaffable. badgerben (3584), Blaine, Minnesota, USA Nov 21, 2004 Dark amber color with a thin head, but the pint is cloudy to the point of wondering if it’s a light stout. It was really lacking in the aroma department with just a bit of grains. Again with the little grain in the taste, but very dry and slightly bready. It tastes a little like an odd mix of a very "beefy" lager and a bit of a wheat. Strange... but worth a try.
