madvike (301), Madison, Wisconsin, USA Jul 29, 2009 On tap at downtown location - Pours hazy amber with little head. Smells of floral and citrus hops balanced nicely with some smooth malt. After that, it goes downhill. It tastes limp, with a little malt, a twinge of hops, but there’s nothing much there at all. It’s easy drinking, but that’s about it. There’s also way too much carbonation, with makes it hard to taste anything. GeneralGao (3051), Iowa City, Iowa, USA Mar 17, 2008 Draft at the brewpub. Poured a clear medium orange color. The head was white and left some decent lace behind. The aroma was of light caramel and butter. I tasted graham cracker, hay, lightly toasted white bread, and a bit of caramel. My description isn’t the best advertisement, but it was a decent beer nonetheless. DavidP (1743), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA Mar 1, 2008 Downtown location tap. Clear brown body, big foamy tan head. Pale malt and a bit of roast in the aroma. Toasty berry-like caramel and grassy bitter hops in teh flavor. Medium-thin mouthfeel. Not that interesting but at least well done. hezron (600), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA Mar 12, 2006 On tap (not cask) at the Fitchburg location, just recently tapped. Lightly malt-fruity aroma and no noticeable hops. Dark amber in color with a thin, off-white head that stays around. Simple, toasted caramel malt and a tiny touch of chocolate. Sweet, but not too much, balanced without a hop presence. Medium-light body, pleasent to drink, nice session beer. Above average when fresh. jewedekind (450), Middleton, Wisconsin, USA Jan 9, 2005 Updated: Feb 21, 2006On cask at brewery. Poured a soap bubble head that was quickly gone. No nose. Beer is hazy red, unappealing. Taste of lactic acid, probably contaminated. Nothing good to say. This isn’t the first of their cask beers I’ve had that was undrinkable.
RE RATE No longer on the cask now from keg. Very nice deep copper beer with thin head that laced to the bottom. Rare flavor of pipe tobacco and bourbon. Clean spice and up front bitterness. Not complex, but a good session beer. Nice to see they cleaned things up. Terminus (1955), Las Cruces, New Mexico, USA Jan 6, 2005 cask at Brewpub-Fitchburg, WI-pours a slightly hazy apricot hue with a nice white head. light lacing. buttery, grainy aroma-some characteristics of a hefe-sour lemon note. this has the sourness of a berliner weiss and definately not something i care for. Strong lemon finish and a thin body. wierd, just plain wierd. JPDIPSO (4862), Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, USA Jan 3, 2005 (Cask) Clear light brown color with a cream colored, dead bubbled, head. Sourdough and light pale malt aroma. Flavors follows the aromas with mild acidic malt and only a mild floral hop component. Live ales can sometimes die. muzzlehatch (4427), Burlington, Vermont, USA Dec 27, 2004 Sample at the brewpub. Clear red/dark amber, no head...apples and light caramel in the nose...a bit sour and vinous, apple-lemon character, a bit smoky but overall rather coarse and lactic at the finish.
