Commercial Description:
Dark and full-bodied, this is our interpretation of the classic English Porter style. Made with nine varieties of malt and assertively hopped, our porter is packed with flavor. Strong coffee and chocolate tones create a special brew for those advancing on the path of fine beer appreciation.

Pours a light brown with a medium tan head. Aroma is slightly cocoa and coffee, with something like olive juice. A smooth drinker but pretty watery and not rich by any means.

Sampled at the downtown location. Poured a brown black with a tan head. Roasty nose. Slightly smoky with a syruppy cocoa sweetness. Roast fest on my tongue. overly roasty that fringes on harsh and slightly syruppy. Smooth on the tongue, but harsh on the throat. Give me more of the speedbump IPA.

Growler drank about 27 hours after filled. Pours a small amount of "big bubbled" head that doesn’t retain well. Smell is chocolatey, big on the chocolate. It also has roasty tones at the end. It’s a good solid porter.

On tap at the brewpub on 6/22/07: Pours an opaque black with a thin ring of wispy tan head. Sweet earthy dark caramel and roasted malt aroma. Body starts with a nice full and sweet dark caramel maltiness with good roasted and chocolate malty balance toward an enjoyable, lingering dark chocolate caramel finish. A very nice and fairly complex porter.

This is a wonderful example of what a porter should be. Enjoyed at the downtown location in an imperial pint glass; this brew had a great aroma, a dark, completely opaque color, and a substantial mouth feel. The flavor was reminiscent of roasted nuts and dark roast coffee with a nice finish. If you’re into porters, then this is absolutely worth a try.

Wow. Had this at the Doty St. location with my meal. Simply incredible. Nearly opaque, this porter was a deep, portentous black in color, a hue that belied the plethora of rich coffee and chocolate notes inside. Felt a little thin, but that was easily forgivable given the intense flavor. Incredible.

Good stuff. Rich, roasty, coco goodness. This is packed with flavor for sure. Let it warm some for the full effect of the flavor blast. This is what a porter should taste like
