Commercial Description:
Dark and full-bodied, this is our interpretation of the classic English Porter style. Made with nine varieties of malt and assertively hopped, our porter is packed with flavor. Strong coffee and chocolate tones create a special brew for those advancing on the path of fine beer appreciation.

Deep, dark black with a lasting light brown head. Didn’t get much aroma, mostly a product of the environment...smokers. Smoky chocolate flavor and great bitter coffee flavors. Creamy/chalky feel...not an overly full body. Probably my favorite at the Great Dane.

Update: Had this on cask and it is very nice. The coffee really stood out over the chocolate this time.

Hand-pulled at the Madison brewery. Starbucks black pour with a thin head. Excellent roasted flavor with coffee and a nice hop presence. finishes slightly bitter but not overdone. This is a great American porter. The best brewpub I’ve been to.

On tap at Benno’s. Wonderful soft chocolate malty aroma, that precedes a taste that is much the same. Smooth almost oily texture, almost like it was nitroed, Taste stayed chocolate cookieish all the way through. Not full or strong enough to be rated among the absolute best, but still one of the nicest surprises in a while

On tap, Madison: Near opaque with a big creamy head (nitro?) and outstanding lace. The aroma has notes of caramel, mocha, walnut, espresso, light smoke, floral hops, and chalky yeast esters. The taste has a lot of chocolate and coffee oevrtones with a good bitter touch. Slightly lactic twang and smoky finish. The feel is smooth and creamy but still a tad too thin. A solid as the earth brew, a well made porter indeed. Worth a short trip.

On tap, Madison brewpub. Deep ruby-black color, dark head, medium-heavy body. Quite sweet. Nice and roasty, but a bit too sweet.

The Dane’s best "always" beer if Speedbump isn’t there. Chocolatey aroma. Sweet roasted coffee flavor. Black as hell. Good stuff.

Looks Darker Then Sin. Very Thin. Tastes like Cold Espresso. Not bad by any means.

Even though it was my last beer of the night (after many more before it), I still remember this beer was good. Very smooth, with a coffee taste to it. A nice beer.
