On tap @ the brewpub (downtown): Poured a cloudy yellow with a white head. Aroma, lemons, wheat, some spices. Flavor, lemons, light bready wheaty malts, some yeast. Softly carbonated and very smooth and refreshing.

I consumed this at the G. Dane in Fitchburg. To me this beer is really not worth the price. It has more flavor than a cheapie domestic, but not enough to knock your socks off. So, what would you want? To spend $6 on a 20 oz or a 6 pack. I will always choice a 6 pack. That being said, I never woke up the next morning feeling any of the effects of this beer. The beer does smell and look great... but do you trust any beer that has fruit in it?

A decent beer, one I can drink at the Dane when desperate for some liquid refreshment. However, it tastes a little soapy and is a little filmy for my taste.

Chicago Trip. Sunday 20:20+. Sample tray. Hazy dark yellow. Minimal head. Nose is mostly lemon. Big banana middle and lemon finish.

Draft at the Airport location. Pours very hazy yellow, thin white head. Very attractive. Aroma was typical for this style, all though a little sweet. The taste followed suit, a little too sweet I thought. The normal banana and cloves. I held off on the lemon, but I sensed some lemon citrus in there. Decent.

Draft at the brewpub. Attractive cloudy yellow color with a thin white head that left minimal lace. Aroma was of clove and banana. Flavor was similar with a dash of citrus. There was also a pleasant tangy acidity. Good hefe.

On tap.
Super-hazy dull yellow (never let anyone say Great Dane does not use sufficient quantities of yeast), very little head that still manages to leave some lacing. Pungent banana and clove aroma with some lemony citrus bringing up the rear. Intense flavor that is tart up front (citrusy) with a good dose of clove next, a touch of banana, and sourdough bread throughout. Medium, slightly flat palate. A well-done hefe, this Great Dane staple is my pick for sipping in their wonderful beer garden in the summertime.

(Tap) Pours a cloudy yellow color with a small, dense white head. Spicy and fruity, with a better mouthfeel than most other American-made hefeweizens. Heavy banana and clove aroma. Citrus notes as well, but that could have come from the lemon slice. Overall, something I could drink a lot of.
