Pours a nice auburn-red with lovely fluffy white head that lasts forever and leaves generous lacing on the sides of the glass. That’s where the pleasantries end. Smells and tastes like cough syrup. Watery palate. Blech. I hope this was just an off batch; I can’t see any other way they can keep this as part of their permanent lineup. troyc (1175), Lubbock, Texas, USA
| 2.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Dec 26, 2006 (Tap) Pours amber with a small white head. Thin mouthfeel, with only a fleeting taste of caramel. Malty, and rather unbalanced. Kind of disappointing, but drinkable. Interesting character... not what I would call a pale lager though. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 28, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Not so sure about the classification as "Pale Lager".. but c’est la vie. Poured clear copper with a short off-white head and lots of creamy lacing. Nose was of sweet caramel, candied fruits, cookie dough, and slightly-stale leafy hoppage. Flavor was of sweet gummied candy, light bitterness, and had a sweet finish. Fairly creamy on the palate.. almost medium-bodied. Good session beer. 1FastSTi (2560), Glendale, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | May 14, 2006 Pours to a slightly deeper colored body than the Maibock with more of a "rum brown" color. Ultra-dense creamy white head and excellent lacing. The flavor is peanuts, walnuts, mineral water, slight floral hops. Balanced but not exciting. Perhaps I’m on crack because my ratings don’t much match other’s... The aroma is cookie dough and minerals. The palate is medium-light bodied, minerally. JCapriotti (1378), Milwaukee, Wisconsin, USA
| 3.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 11/20 | May 2, 2006 Red copper. Thick light tan head, creamy. Taste of stale graham cracker, grainy wheat crackers, and a papery aroma. Odd tasting beer. JohnnyOS (646), Golden, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 5/10 | 3/5 | 10/20 | Mar 17, 2006 On tap at the Great Dane brewpub in Madison WI. Pours a red amber with thick off-white head. Aroma of sweet caramel malts, fruit and hops. Flavor follows aroma, but seems to be in an odd combination... didn’t work well for me. hezron (602), Viroqua, Wisconsin, USA
| 2.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 7/20 | Jan 28, 2006 Very light aroma with just the slightest hint of caramel. Medium amber-red with a huge, creamy off-white head and great lacing that stuck to the side of the entire glass. Light caramel flavor with a hint of ale-like fruitiness and some noble hop spice. This was all very subtle, but it combines to a flavor that I didn’t really care for that much. It isn’t offending or anything though. Great palate, the head is so creamy, it fills your mouth making up for the lighter body. jaymobrown (1356), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 2.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 2/5 | 3/10 | 2/5 | 9/20 | Oct 27, 2005 Darkish brown. I had this and I swore nothing went in my mouth. Took another sip. Hmm... the glass kept getting emptier, but still I couldn’t taste a thing. Well, that’s the problem here. Too much of nothing. The hops were gone and any malt was vacant. Tasted like a well-known macro but without any gimmicy marketing. Did have some faint floral aroma notes though.
