Aroma of lightly sweet toasted malt and earthy hops is pretty subtle. Body starts fairly full with a nice light caramel sweetness balanced with some mildly earthy piny hops before a smooth, bittersweet finish. A pretty decent red lager. | 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 4/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Jul 2, 2004 Sample at the brewpub. Cloudy dark amber, thick creamy head. Faint malty, apple-lemon nose, really very little there. Beautiful silky mouthfeel helps to redeem, as does the excellent balance of flavors: chocolate, apples, smoking leaves, caramel. Smokily bitter towards the end. Certainly near the very top of this category. Skyview (4090), Papoose Jct., Minnesota, USA

Pours clear dark mahogany colored brew with a thin off-white head that quickly dissipates to a thin white ring. Aroma of caramel malt, some floral and citrus zest hops, a touch of green vegetables and a hint of toffee. Taste is medium bodied, light carbonated with flavors or caramel malt, some floral hops and a touch of vegetable. Finish is smooth with a mild caramel and floral hop aftertaste. | 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 12/20 | Oct 28, 2006 On tap at the brewpub. Not so sure about the classification as "Pale Lager".. but c’est la vie. Poured clear copper with a short off-white head and lots of creamy lacing. Nose was of sweet caramel, candied fruits, cookie dough, and slightly-stale leafy hoppage. Flavor was of sweet gummied candy, light bitterness, and had a sweet finish. Fairly creamy on the palate.. almost medium-bodied. Good session beer.
