Commercial Description:
Based on our most award-winning beer, Denver Pale Ale, this copper-hued treat is a celebration of everything Great Divide does best. Plenty of malty sweetness provides a backdrop for earthy, floral English and American hops, while French and American oak round off the edges and provide a touch of vanilla. Thanks to everyone who’s supported us for the last 15 years - here’s to 15 more!

Draft at flying Saucer. I just dont get these BA IPA or IIPA for that matter. Hazy copper pour with a frothy off white head and thick drippy lace. Oaky, herbal & floral notes. Caramel, earthy, vanilla and light acidity. Bitter dry finish is where the hops finally make their appearance

Pours a nice copper color with a frothy khacki head with some decent staying power. The aroma shows oak, caramel malt, grains, and some floral notes. Flavors are a bit sticky, a lot of toffee and malt up front with bitter hops that mix with a ton of oak. I wouldn’t call this alcoholic but it is sticky with a little too much oak and sweet malt that over-power the hops at times. Bitter dry finish but I’d prefer if this were a little more hop forward. Hard for me to envision as a DIPA but I guess probably right for a Wood Aged version of one. I love the GD Oak Aged Stouts but I could never really get into this one. Just overall a bit odd. Still a decent beer though.

On tap at Trinity in Colorado Springs. Red amber color. Malty. A bit boozy. Maybe some autolysis. Sweet. Good, but hard to drink a whole snifter. At first I though there was diacetly, but now I think it’s melanoidin overload.

Clear amber with dense tan head. Arom is exactly as expected from a DIPA wood. Hops with astringent oakiness, and sweet caramel. Taste is oddly well balanced with almost lemony interplay between the wood , hop and malt elements. Superwoody astringency in the finish. Nice, but you have to really like oak to appreciate this one. $10/22oz

Bottle… Clear copper ale with a mid-sized, creamy, white head that very slowly diminishes to a small, tight, never-ending cap. At first, I had a lot of trouble pulling any aroma from the glass, but as the beer warmed I discovered some mildly woody, lightly acidic notes. Full-bodied and chewy with gentle carbonation. The flavor is malt-driven and leans just a hair toward the sweet side of balance, but it’s also hop-heavy enough to satisfy even a West Coaster. Lengthy, bitter-sweet finish… the bitter outlasts the sweet.

22 ounce bottle at the Relentless Thirst Gathering in Richmond, VA, 8.29.09. Pours a clear copper color with a medium head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of muted bitter citrusy hops. Taste has the same muted citrus hops with a bit of cheese. Still very bitter with some toffee notes. Medium bodied.

Love these wood aged beers. This one pours a dark amber with a red tint. Small head that lasts and laces the glass. Aroma is malty with a touch of caramel. Taste is vanilla, wood, whiskey. Finishes very clean

Pours amber clear with an off white head. Immediate notes of caramel and a decent amount of roasted malts. The flavor follows with notes of dried apricot and vanilla a toned down hop presence that brings character. Tasty beer.
