Oct 30, 2009 Updated: Nov 9, 2009bottle poured an orange amber in color with a one finger white head that fell to a nice clingy ring. aroma has caramel sweetness, heavy resiny citrus hops, barrel wood, vanilla, and a bit of earth. solid medium mouth feel with low side carbonation. flavor gets smacked with wood, vanilla, aged hops, cheese, and caramel. very barley wine and super hearty. the barrel and vanilla get a bit cloying.

Oct 28, 2009 The Dan Journal #276. Tasted 7/11/09. 22oz bomber. Bottled June 4, 2009. Filtered with an amber ruby hue. Bubbled off-white head. Oaky and smokey aromas with notes of vanilla and fudge. Full bodied with a woody, earthy flavor. Tart and sticky palate. Good meld of ingredients. Great use of oak. Very tasty. These guys really know how to work with wood! Moderate burn and a clinging finish. Very well crafted! I’m a Great Divide fan!

Aroma, light notes of wood, caramel, some vanilla, light fruit/wood, fresh sweet hops.
Flavor, nice citrus hops, light wood/oak, palate is sweet, hints of vanilla, caramel in the background with definite hints of fruits; citrus and grapefruit, though with an emphasis on the sweeter side..
Overall finish, is very sweet, added with the vanilla and oak. Hops are in the right balance, not making this one too bitter.

Big juicy malt, fresh citrus fruit hop aroma.
A bit out of balance as it first hits the tongue. Hop juice on the front and overly sweet on the finish.
A bit thin.

Oct 25, 2009 Bottle from Jimbo. Really nice amber color and a very pleasant hop/oak aroma. The hops were a little muted from the oak, but overall this was a solid IIPA. Reminded me of a less hoppy version of Exponential hoppiness

Oct 25, 2009 Bottle shared from DuffmanSW. Aroma of oak, vanilla, caramel notes, faint citrus hops. Poured a clear beautiful mahogany color with nice crisp head. Taste was very smooth and balanced more like a barley wine rather than a double IPA.

Oct 24, 2009 Updated: Oct 25, 200922 oz. bottle. Bottled on: 6/19/09. Pours a murky amber with a big tan head. The sweet aroma features plenty of grapefruits and pine needles offset by caramel, vanilla extract, coconut, and oakiness. Big body. Nice balance taste-wise for such a big beer. Lots of super-sweet caramel, vanilla, and coconut upfront. Grapefruits follow. A uniquely rich oakiness at the end. Interesting, but a bit too sweet.
