Commercial Description:
Based on our most award-winning beer, Denver Pale Ale, this copper-hued treat is a celebration of everything Great Divide does best. Plenty of malty sweetness provides a backdrop for earthy, floral English and American hops, while French and American oak round off the edges and provide a touch of vanilla. Thanks to everyone who’s supported us for the last 15 years - here’s to 15 more!

Pours a clear copper/amber color. One finger, slick head. No lacing. Aroma is light wood, floral alcohol, a touch of dark fruit. Flavor is hops on the front, a big pop of malt, and a bit of bittering hops and earthy wood on the back end. The palate is watery, while oddly being substantial at the same time. Silky smooth texture, finishes just a bit dry. Good beer. Doesn’t taste like a 10%’er by any stretch, but you’d be hard pressed to make a session from it.

Bottle:   Coppery amber, fairly clear, moderate to large off-white frothy head, nice lacing, light carbonation.   Woody nose, well pale woodiness, seems a little sweet and sugary.   Imperial IPA seems subtle, very minor hop or juicy citrus on the nose.   This one is woodish all the way.   Falls flat in the malt aspect for an Imperial IPA.   Rather woody, not as sweet as the nose suggested.   Just minor, this one isn’t big at all and ends up with this huge woodiness without a sweet malty background to compliment it.   Body and mouthfeel, you guessed it... average.   Somewhat dry on the finish.   Lordy, no sweet malty or citrus aspects.   This is more like an IPA or even Pale Ale in that it doesn’t see anywhere near as big as even a weak IIPA.   Yeah, liking this less and less as I drink more and more.   Simply unbalanced.

Deep amber color with a big, rocky beige head. Buttery barrel nose with hop resin. Lots of wood in this one, with orange peel, vanilla bean, and grapefruit rind. I still don’t think that most IPAs benefit from being wood aged.

What a disaster. Tasted like I sucked on a towel soaked w/ Jack. No beer flavor at all. No good hoppy bitterness. Just weird and big and whiskey flavored. Can’t believe I wasted $10 bucks on this crap. Fuckers!

Bottle shared by DuffmanSW. Pours a dark reddish copper with a light orangeish tan head. Aroma is caramel, vanilla and citrus. Flavor is caramel and woody earth with a moderate bitterness. Full bodied with moderate carbonation.

Good, but I had expected more from this beer. Surprisingly mellow, for an IIPA, with a very underwhelming hops punch, but significant notes of sweetness and malt. Like many IIPAs, it seems to bleed a little into barley wine territory, with the alcohol and sweet, caramel, toffee notes, but I’m still very surprised by how moderate the hoppiness of a beer like this is.

Very caramelly, sweet toffee-ish aroma. Flavor is very malty sweet at first -caramel and toffee, of course, but also blueberries, which is kinda odd. Hops are bit understated for a DIPA, but still nicely bitter. The oak flavors are in the background. This is a pretty tasty brew.

Draught at TJ’s: Aroma of hops, pine, oak, and slight bourbon. Poured very deep amber in color with a small, tah head that diminished but lasted throughout as a film on top of the beer. Flavor is medium bitter. Tastes of hops, oak, light bourbon, wood, and pine. Medium body. Lightly dry texture. Average carbonation. Oak, bourbon, hop, and slight malt finish is lightly dry. 10%ABV is completely hidden throughout. Quite delicious.

Poured a dark copper color with a medium sized white fluffy head. First look was slightly carbonated. Aroma strengthens as it warms (less alcohol warm taste, more vanilla and oak). Alcohol is well hidden for 10%. Flavor is wonderful. Lots of vanilla, notes of hops, nice malt balance. Biscuit, pine also notable.
