The nose is actually a very pleasant balance of oaky-bourbon and roasty chocolate. The mouthfeel is very smooth but feels a bit thin. The flavor did not really meet the expectations set by the smell. The flavor is of watered down bourbon and light chocolate and coffee accents. In its defense, it did start to taste better the more i drank. Maybe it was just the ABV talking... arrogantb (701), Denver, Colorado, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jan 10, 2009 Bottle #390/470. Dark, black, head dies fast. Smells like whiskey, marshmallows, Hershey syrup, smores? The aroma is really strong and nice. Woody flavor, whiskey, chocolates, raisins, not much carbonation. I really didn’t want to pay the $26 but this was good although not as good as the barrel-aged ruffian.

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Dec 30, 2008 750 ml bottle - big thanks to acrdz for the trade; side-by-side with the regular and oaked yeti’s; pours thin and black with no head; tons of sweet whiskey aromas; drinks thin and silky smooth; almost no life here at all and compared to the others, many of the flavors have faded considerably; no roasted characteristics or coffee; i do love how smooth it is and one its own this is pretty decent; but next to the other two, this is easily the weakest pantani (1902), Salinas, California, USA

| 4.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Dec 18, 2008 Man there must have been different barrels/batches of this stuff because the bottle I had was awesome and some of these reviews tear it a new one. Pours semi-viscous looking black with a good size, dense, creamy, light brown head. Nice lace down the glass. Smell BIG and sweet with vanilla and wood notes with some chocolate and lingering, biting booze. Still smooth smelling though. Tastes BIG and dark, sweet, chocolatey with some sweet, vanilla notes from the wood. Massive flavor, smooth bourbon notes. It is hot, but its a sipper anyway. Let it warm up gradually and drink slow. Full, thick, syrupy body but smooth with good carbonation. AllAboutStout (605), Cincinnati, Ohio, USA
| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Dec 13, 2008 Another one of the stalwarts that Beachbum1975 broke out on us. Great night.
Pours a murky brown in color. There is no head forming on the pour but there are very large bubbles all over the perimeter of the glass. Nose is a little boozy. Not quite a bourbon smell but just boozy and a bit of an alcohol note.
I agree with Shane that this needs to warm up to near or just shy of room temperature. The flavors really come through and it gets a fuller mouthfeel. Lots of oaky and chocolatey and whiskey coming through in the flavor. Nothing is dominating but they play off one another very well. Incredibly smooth on the mouthfeel. I do not mind the lack of carbonation. Matter of fact I actually prefer it in a beer of this nature. Easily the best of the Yeti series that Avery makes. Just wish this was more readily available and cheaper. I could find myself drinking this quite often.
