Commercial Description:
The Roman name for the Low Countries–is a marriage of the best in American and Belgian brewing traditions. Belgian pilsner malt, a generous amount of American and European hops and a unique Belgian yeast strain combine to give Belgica big notes of citrus and spice, creating a lively concoction perfect for spring in the Rockies–or the Ardennes. 7.2% ABV.

First released as Belgian IPA:
Just for fun, the brewers took our Titan, a hop forward American IPA and introduced a Belgian yeast strain to it. The result is unique Belgian-style ale with lots of fruity esters, a citrus hop flavor and nice hop bitterness that’s surprisingly smooth. 7.5% alcohol by volume.

Nice spicy aroma. Looks good with a yellow body and fluffy white head. Flavor is typical with a hop bite at the end. Interesting.

Pours a clear, golden color with an average, white, fluffy head which settles to a nice small foam and does leave Belgian lace all over the place. The nose...... all I get is creamed corn... faint herbal, faint spicy, faint esters. Flavor is marginally better; creamed corn remains dominant with a moderate, spicy bitterness, and light bit of citrus hops, grass, and fruity yeast esters. Palate is spicy, very lively, drying, light to medium. Finishes with a nice, spicy bitterness, some light esters, and some linger... CORN. Maybe my least favorite beer from a non-macro brewery and from one of my favorite CO breweries. Maybe this bottle is bad but I have seen corn as a note in other ratings... If this really originated as Titan IPA (which I doubt), they must have done something terribly wrong.

Brewed in the USA...... 4th of July bash. Pours a pale yellow color with a small white head. Aroma of spices, yeast and some malts. Taste is kind of the same with the addition of herbs and cloves. The mouthfeel is medium in body, kind of chewy with a yeast like finish. Overall, average, I still feel like after drinking this it tasted more like a Witbier.

This beer is a really pleasant Belgian ale, although I have to say that like other "Belgian IPAs" I’ve had, I find the IPA part of the equation to be missing. A nice beer, but I don’t detect any of the hoppiness that I’d associate with an IPA. Nice clear, bright, golden body with pretty average head. Aroma is a little mercaptan-y (vegetables), with Belgian yeast inspired fruity esters that I found pretty pleasant. Flavor is more of that characteristic Belgian yeast and spiciness (clove and coriander), and is pretty pleasant, although some of that mercaptan-iness remains. Mouthfeel is a touch sticky. This is pretty good - I’d recommend it.

355ml Bottle from De Bierkoning. Clear bright yellow colour, white head. Floral aroma, very Belgian at first, with lots of yeast, citric hops. Flavour is sweet and malty at first, fruity, a hint of vegetables, a bit of yeast, citrus, ending in a dry light grapefruity finish. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, oily mouthfeel. American Duvel?

Draught. Poured pale gold with a white crown, produced some nice lacing. Aroma was pine thistle, belgian yeast spice, grapefruit, and pilsner malt. Flavor is grapefruit, light ginger and cinnamon, root, and sweet nectar fruitiness. Palate was also good. The balance is perfect, definitely one of the better belgian IPAs out there.

Draft at SBV. Pours a thin short lived head, over a slightly cloudy pale yellow (SRM 4) body.....nose is some barnyard funk, some grapefruit.....taste initially is mild malts, then long lasting hop bitterness. This is a very strange combination. It is not unpleasant, but really does not fit into traditional styles.

A beautiful golden translucent ale with a thick frothy and creamy off white head. A wonderfully spiced hopped aroma, with English inspired hopping, citrus and savoury herbs. In mouth, good sustained hops with herbal spices, grapefruit, saison-like with more oomph. A very nice offering. Bottle from Federal Spirits in Boston, enjoyed July 9 in Bogota, CO.
