Commercial Description:
The Roman name for the Low Countries–is a marriage of the best in American and Belgian brewing traditions. Belgian pilsner malt, a generous amount of American and European hops and a unique Belgian yeast strain combine to give Belgica big notes of citrus and spice, creating a lively concoction perfect for spring in the Rockies–or the Ardennes. 7.2% ABV.

First released as Belgian IPA:
Just for fun, the brewers took our Titan, a hop forward American IPA and introduced a Belgian yeast strain to it. The result is unique Belgian-style ale with lots of fruity esters, a citrus hop flavor and nice hop bitterness that’s surprisingly smooth. 7.5% alcohol by volume.

Sample at Brews Cafe. The beer is a hazy golden color with a thin and lasting off-white head. Thin rings of lacing on the glass. Lightly spiced hops and citrus in the nose. Medium body with flavors of peppery yeast, citrus and hops. Notes of bready malt too. The finish is smooth and fruity with an apricot and malt aftertaste. Decent overall.

Bottle at RBESG 09 Sheffield. Clear gold, thin white head. Estery IPA. Doesn’t really work. Bit of bleach flavour even. Shame, as I was looking forward to this.

12 oz Bottle - Pours a light and clear yellow with quickly dissipating head - Lasting lacing - A little bit of corn and apple noticed in slight aroma - Palate is slightly sweet - Overall this is just not my style

Bottle thanks to Butters. Bright dark yellow, with a puffy, rocky whitish head and a sticky sheet of lacing. Fruity aroma, pears and apples, very spicy hoppiness and yeasty esters. Taste is again fruity, sweet but with a dominating spiciness both from the yeast and the hops. Seems underrated to me.

Straw yellow with short-lived white head. Aroma is a whiff of urine, wheat, and spicy phenols. Taste is nearly the same, with a hit of DMS, and a harsh tannic finish. $2/12oz
