Commercial Description:
We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

Bomber- pours inky black and given a vigorous pour into a Duvel glass- a thick three finger mocha head. Lacing is quite good. Nose- milk chocolate, nuts, and anise. Taste- chocolate forward- mix of dark and milk chocolate. Not a ton of roast. Vanilla and hops come through towards the finish. Finish is fairly bitter from the hops and oak and some alcohol heat.

22oz - Aroma is big with chocolate, cocoa, sawdust, vanilla and roasted dark malts. Flavor is a very strong version of aroma with an alcohol bite. It lingers in the mouth with oak, vanilla and a big chocolate finish. Palate is creamy, dry and soft. This 22oz of chocolately goodness and I spent quite a while together and it was worth every minute. A great brew.

BPW #12 Sampled from 22oz bottle courtesy of Andy. Appearance is a rich chocolaty brown with a chocolate moose head. Nose is chocolate and roasted malt. Not the best notes on this beer as the night was late so I picked up another bottle to update this rating better then “chocolaty”. Resampled 11/28/09. Served from a 22 oz bottle from Indy. Appearance is a rich chocolate brown with a large dense cream brown head. The aromas are full of chocolate, alcohol, and a nice barrel undertone. The flavors start with rich chocolate milk flavors and creaminess. The barrel tones build on the tongue nicely but are very rounded. There is a little musky note in there that I could do without. The wood from the barrels really drys out the beer. The taste enjoyment comes and goes for me. Not on the top of my Yeti list but nice.

Bottle.
Pours a blacker than black, demoness calls, enter oblivion... Nose is alcohol, dark fruit, coffee malt, and grape nuts. Flavor is cocoa hops, toasted malt, and alcohol, with a chocolate powder finish. Thick mouthfeel. Seems like a toned-down Yeti; perhaps aging will tame the hops and allow the chocolate/malt elements to shine.

Sample from September 11, 2009 Beer Club Meeting. Darkly translucent with a brown-red hue. Not what I expected. Bubbly, patchy lacing. Aroma roasted and dry, light hops, notes of cocoa in the aroma. Flavor is immediately spicy... yep!... there’s the cayenne. Very similar to jalepeno/chipotle. Feel it in the throat - unmistakable. Great balance of chocolate, oak, and peppers. Nice mouthfeel... lovely! A great drink - although I can imagine that it would be even less appealing to the masses, I loved it!

dark with a nice head aroma of chocolate, coffee, some oak, pepper and alcohol. Flavor has a nice bitterness to go with the same elements from aroma, the heat from the pepper is a little over the top maybe but is still good.

Bottle thanks to thirdeye11. The look is black in color with a decent beige colored head. The smell is licorice, alcohol, chocolate, coffee, malts, and hops. The taste is chocolate, coffee, roasted malts, and goodness.
