Commercial Description:
We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

22 ounce bottle at the Relentless Thirst Gathering in Richmond, VA, 8.29.09. Pours a dark brown color with a small head. Fair head retention and lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and vanilla. Taste is roasted malts, chocolate and leafy hops. Medium bodied.

22 ounce bottle in snifter. Black with light brown head and lace. Wood chocolate wet earth mushroom coffee aroma. Rich chocolate woody vanilla coffee with subdued fruit and strong chocolate bitter warm finish. Rich texture. Great, but not as great as regular oak or regular Yeti. As Espresso Yeti also proves, Yeti can not be improved upon.

Bottle... This beer rocks!… Midnight-black ale with a small, creamy, light brown head. Great retention. The aroma offers lots of dark chocolate and espresso, a lesser note of vanilla and a whisper of cayenne pepper. Ultra full-bodied and extremely velvety with prickly carbonation. Leans on the sweet side of balance. Very chocolaty with subdued espresso and an even more subtle blueberry note. Dark chocolate, blueberry, cayenne finish - bitterness remains as sweetness fades - dries out a touch and numbs the tongue. World class brew!

Pours black and thick and produces a huge fluffy brown head that sticks as a thin film on top. Some really nice lacing. Aroma is oak tree bark, chocolate, notes of cream and pepper. Flavors are smooth and a bit peppery, chocolate obviously there, oak, oats, and toffee are picked up as well. Creamy and somewhat peppery with firm bitterness hitting mid palate and more intense towads the finish. Good beer. I think I prefer the standard Oak Aged version though where the oak shines through more rather than being more complimentary to the chocolate.

22 oz bottle. Pours a dark color with a deep dark tan colored head. Roasted aroma, with notable chocolate character, touch of vanilla, and a much more subdued alcohol presence than I had expected. Flavor is that of coffee, chocolate, vanilla, roasted malts, and a hint of hops. Nice warming sensation, slightly bitter finish, and (as I said about the aroma). Not bad!

Pour is black with a lasting tan head. Aromas of oak aged yeti combined with a chocolate...the pepper is not noticed in the nose. However, I do detect it in the finish of this beer. It gives it an interesting and unique taste. I can’t say this is better than original oak aged yeti, but I still am enjoying this quite a bit. There is a lot going on here.

Nice deep brown black with tan head. Tastes like chocolate astronaut ice cream at first. Not bad. Syrupy smoothed out with a definite warming alcohol presence. This presence gets downright spicy...echos of peppers, espresso and mocha. The hotness is really apparent towards the end where it seems to have an assertive peppery quality which is interesting, but doesn’t totally jive with the essence of the brew. I like it but frankly it went in too many directions if that makes any sense. Still a good brew though.
