We paired it with a delicious sea salt and chili dark chocolate produced in Antigua. Smooth, light bodied, silky, chocolate, some bitterness not much, might miss the hops, but a great alternative. fonefan (11888), VestJylland, Denmark

The aroma is dark chocolate, vanilla, a little bit of soy sauce, oak, marshmallow creme, and a hint of licorice. The flavor is vanilla and chocolate right off the bat. It starts off rather sweet, but tones down fairly quickly. A mellow, creamy sweetness then comes in with the first real inklings of hops. The finish has a little bit of earthy bitterness to it, along with a noticeable oak character. There’s something in there that I assume is the cayenne, but I would not have noticed it if I didn’t know it was there. Quite a tasty beer. Caskalefan (44), Bellingham, Washington, USA

This is what I wish Southern Tier’s Choklat had tasted like...drier than that fine brew, and more drinkable...the heat is very mild, but definitely livens things up, and helps dry out the residual sweetness. The balance is perfect, and so is the body...not too thick, but just creamy enough to carry all that flavor. The finish is extremely long, and terrific. sjolles85 (90), Tampa, Florida, USA

Strong oak and chocolate nose. The cayenne pepper makes your tongue and throat itchy.... Strange but fantastic brew! thejon375 (392), Tampa, Florida, USA

Great choc flavor up front with a spicy cayenne finish. Completely weird but awesomely amazing. TheCaptain (559), Lancaster, Pennsylvania, USA

Vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts and plenty of oak aged goodness swirling around here. A great brew that has just a little bit of a kick to keep it interesting. Enjoyed this one! | 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Nov 20, 2009 Great color and appearance. Thicker head that lasts longer than most Imperials. Smells great. First smell is medium bodied malts and then the sweet chocolate. Taste is great. Has a milkshake quality. Nice bitter finish. Palate lingers. Cheyenne becomes noticiable the longer you drink this beer but it is never over-powering. Sweetness gets old quick. Nice beer at first but difficult to drink a lot at one time. Still a nice beer and unique taste.
