Commercial Description:
We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

Drank it with my wife in a beautiful hotel in Antigua Guatemala. We paired it with a delicious sea salt and chili dark chocolate produced in Antigua. Smooth, light bodied, silky, chocolate, some bitterness not much, might miss the hops, but a great alternative.

Bottle 22fl.oz.
Clear dark dark red brown color with a large, creamy, good lacing, mostly lasting, light brown head. Aroma is moderate to heavy malty, roasted, burnt, chocolate, moderate wood - oak, light vanilla. Flavor is light heavy sweet and bitter with a long duration, chilli - peppery burn finish, very dry. Body is medium, texture is oily - creamy and smooth, carbonation is soft. [20090922]

Bomber. Pours opaque black with large, dense tan head that leaves a wall of lacing. The aroma is dark chocolate, vanilla, a little bit of soy sauce, oak, marshmallow creme, and a hint of licorice. The flavor is vanilla and chocolate right off the bat. It starts off rather sweet, but tones down fairly quickly. A mellow, creamy sweetness then comes in with the first real inklings of hops. The finish has a little bit of earthy bitterness to it, along with a noticeable oak character. There’s something in there that I assume is the cayenne, but I would not have noticed it if I didn’t know it was there. Quite a tasty beer.

What the two gentlemen above me said. This is what I wish Southern Tier’s Choklat had tasted like...drier than that fine brew, and more drinkable...the heat is very mild, but definitely livens things up, and helps dry out the residual sweetness. The balance is perfect, and so is the body...not too thick, but just creamy enough to carry all that flavor. The finish is extremely long, and terrific.

This is one strange beer. Pours black with dark tan almost brown head. Strong oak and chocolate nose. The cayenne pepper makes your tongue and throat itchy.... Strange but fantastic brew!

Pours pitch black with dark tan head. Aromas of chocolate and oak. Great choc flavor up front with a spicy cayenne finish. Completely weird but awesomely amazing.

Bottle - Poured a very dark brown-black with decent lasting tan foam head. Vanilla, chocolate, roasted malts and plenty of oak aged goodness swirling around here. A great brew that has just a little bit of a kick to keep it interesting. Enjoyed this one!

Great color and appearance. Thicker head that lasts longer than most Imperials. Smells great. First smell is medium bodied malts and then the sweet chocolate. Taste is great. Has a milkshake quality. Nice bitter finish. Palate lingers. Cheyenne becomes noticiable the longer you drink this beer but it is never over-powering. Sweetness gets old quick. Nice beer at first but difficult to drink a lot at one time. Still a nice beer and unique taste.
