Commercial Description:
We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

22 oz. bottle- Pours pitch black with a tan 1 inch thick head, excellent lacing. Aroma is of bourbon and oak chips, flavor is of bourbon, chocolate and roasted barley. I thought it would have more of a chocolate flavor, but the strong alcohol flavor kind of overpowers it.

Kind of over-the-top with the chocolate. Sort of a gimmick, but I still drank the hell out of it. I don’t know how much of this you want to pound back, especially on a warm day.

More oak than chocolate but a decent drink either way. No head here. This is all vanilla and wood. A little touch of alcohol on the back end of the palate. I can’t conceive of drinking this in the summer as per the seasonal release schedule here. Going great with this slight chill we have going on here. Aroma is mostly molasses and licorice with a little bit of prune and vanilla. Flavor is woody, big vanilla, and smooth creamy chocolate texture. The finish is a bit alcoholic as I mentioned before but almost like a rich chocolate liquer dessert.

Pours a deep viscous black with a foamy, sticky rich brown head that leaves a ton of bubbly lacing all around my Dogfish Head Snifter. Aroma is Oak, Bittersweet Chocolate, Roasted Barley, A touch of spices, vanilla. The first sip yields a thick slick oily mouthfeel that takes you into the land of roasted barley, bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, oak, a touch of alcohol, hops, nuts, vanilla, spices, a little bitterness that numbs the tongue. Finish is bitter chocolate and a dab of spiciness from the cayenne possibly. Another solid Yeti sighting.

Bottle. Aroma has notes of molasses, cocoa, dark dried fruits, woody oak, toffee, and vanilla. Large tan frothy head that mostly lasted and left wonderful lace. Pitch black hue. Flavor is roasted malts, real chocolate, chewy molases, and coffee. Palate is full bodied and oily soft. Very good brew with wonderful complex roasted flavors and a beautiful body. What more could a man want.

bomber, bottled 7/16/09, from grape & gourmet. pours a beautiful, oily black with a thick, dark cocoa head and great lacing. aroma is very nice with notes of bitter chocolate, roast coffee, toffee malts, earthy hops, oaky vanilla, and a touch of chili pepper. flavor is excellent with big notes of dark, bittersweet chocolate, cedar wood, charred oak, earthy hops, licorice, and a definite spicy cayenne note leading to a warm, roasted finish. palate is full bodied and smooth with medium carbonation and well integrated alcohol. overall, a very nice version of the Yeti.
