Commercial Description:
We toned down the hops a bit to allow cocoa nibs to contribute some pleasing bitterness, while vanilla notes from the oak combine with the cocoa to create an aroma and flavor akin to a gourmet chocolate bar. A dash of cayenne keeps things lively, adding just a bit of heat to the finish. A Yeti for summer? Hell yes.

Bottle thanks to daknole: Pours a mostly opaque black with mahogany edges and a frothy, spotty-lacing beige head. Aroma of sweet dark caramel and chocolate with some toasty oak and piny hops. Starts with a rich dark caramel and chocolate maltiness with some fresh oaky tang before a warming peppery finish. I’m particularly sensitive to the cayenne pepper which masked any lingering roast or dark chocolate flavors, but the effect seemed to fade as the beer warmed up. Overall pretty well made.

Pretty deep pour with huge nose of sweet chocolate truffles. Choco nibs are perfect ingredient for this, which is ideally twisted by the pepper spices. Very interesting beer, tasty, subtle and mesmerizing.

Old note: Bottle form Sam’s Sweet, oak and chocolate. Not as strong as I’d of thought. Blackish brown color, good head, spotty lace. Bitter sweet flavor. Thick body, creamy mouthfeel, bitter dry finish. Well, I thought it came across as too much oak, seemed to mute other flavors on aroma, chocolate was stronger on flavor. didn’t come together for me

Solid black with a thick creamy brown head. Aroma is milk chocolate, alcohol, and a hop spice. Taste is sweet milk chocolate and this bottle has more alcohol flavor noticeable than the other Yeti’s in a side by side tasting. Has a white pepper spicy finish. Very rich and flavorful.

22oz bomber. Pours a deep drown almost black with a menacing, dark brown head that has good retention and leaves spots of lacing. Aroma is pears, Mayan chocolate. Mostly spiced, baked, Bosc pears. Taste really is just overwhelmed by cayenne pepper. There is a good authentic Mayan chocolate presence, but it gets lost in sort of the fruity sweetness of this beer. I don’t taste any of the oak or vanilla in this. Sad.

Tarry black with a tall, tan head. Fluid aromas of yeast, bitter chocolate, malted milk and greens. First bitter bite, and a heated finish. Surprisingly light, with a distinct chocolate finish. Green, piney, vegetal hops are a bit of a clash with the delicate malt flavors. Though the beer could use more balance and less alcohol, it works as a light stout with a spicy hop presence.

Drank it with my wife in a beautiful hotel in Antigua Guatemala. We paired it with a delicious sea salt and chili dark chocolate produced in Antigua. Smooth, light bodied, silky, chocolate, some bitterness not much, might miss the hops, but a great alternative.
