| 2.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 3/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 2/5 | 12/20 | Mar 31, 2009 Color is a near solid ruby with mellow carbonation and a thin but tight head that has a slight tan look to it. Aroma of roasted malt and wet hay. Taste roasted and dry. Starting with a bold medium body with a rich creamy feel. Finish jumps out with a big roasted malt sweetness and a hint of dried fruit. After taste is a continuation of the sweet and roasted flavors with the roasted giving a dry feel in the end. Overall I think its unbalanced and a little too sweet. carruthm (1179), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 4/5 | 13/20 | Mar 30, 2009 Pours a very dark reddish brown with a thin offwhite head, reducing to a film rapidly. The nose is sweet with malt, some caramelization, and a bit of fruit. Maybe a suggestion of sulfur? Creamy full body with average carbonation. Sweet rich malt, creamy. Tons of caramel, some toast. A bit fruity. Tons of residual sugar here. The finish just has a touch of alcohol and is mostly fruity astringency. Some acidity, which I think of as odd for the style. | 3.6 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Mar 30, 2009 Sample at Brew Kettle: This beer pours a dark amber color with a thin light tan head that recedes steadily. Small patches of lacing on the glass. Aroma of caramel, honey and dark fruits. Medium-bodied with flavors of dark malt, caramel and fruit. The finish is sweet and malty with an earthy and slightly alcohol-tinged aftertaste. Decent overall.
