Commercial Description:
Named for a medieval Scottish sword, Claymore Scotch ale is a tribute to the legendary "Wee Heavy" beers of Scotland. A malty, deep-ruby-hued ale, it features a generous amount of caramel sweetness, a reserved hop profile and a subtle warming character, at 7.7% alcohol by volume. Claymore will be available in six-packs and on draft through mid-April.

Bottle. Dark red color with an thick beige head that sticks around. Moderate aroma of sweet malts. Flavor is a nice mix of caramel and malts. Actually finishes with a slightly dry hoppy bitterness. Pretty good.

Pours a dark brown with no head; dark stuff for a scotch ale. Taste is molasses, coffee, cola, caramel, and a hint roastiness. Full-bodied and smooth with low carbonation. This one is rich and sweet, not dominated by peat and caramel the way most scotch ales are. Drinkable and enjoyable. Definitely worth another try.

Pours dark cola brown with tan head that dissipates quickly. Toasted malt, caramel and nutty aroma. Big malty and nutty flavors with some mild hops. Some wood and yeast flavors also. Medium body with mild carbonation.

Pours muddy brown w/ a solid lasting head reducing slowly to a misty curtain. Strong aromatics at play hear exposing roasted malt and pecan meat. Medium full nectar, soft and creamy. Moderately sweet yet balanced. Good roast w/ meaty malts and a case of molases. Theres a faint acidic bittering on the back to balance. Rich and warming.

This was much better than I expected. Pours very dark brown with a reddish hue through when held to the light. It had a rocky sudsy tan tan. The aroma has very toasted malt, spice, coffee like bitterness and thick breadiness. It is very hearty, but dry for the style. Medium / thick body that’s smooth and silky with lots of semi-soft carbonation. The taste has the aroma traits along with dark caramel and toffee. It is very rich, thick and full flavored. While it is rich the sweetness is much less than most scotch ales. The finish is doughy with caramel and toffee as the heaviest traits. Very nicely done.

I am not getting much on the nose.... let me swirl it .... some malt... some plum.... not much that I can noticed... Pours amber brown with a small white head.. Beautiful carbonation that is a dream to have.. Intensely smooth and crisp finish... Flavor is spot on malty for this scocth ale drinker and lover.. Great plum notes.. not too sweet and balanced..It finish a tad sour but it really makes tis brew stand out on taste. aroma and appearance are not enough for me to rank a beer bad... It really is all about taste and if you would drink it again... the answer to that question is.. YES

Smoky malt aromas with dark cola colors and a fizzy grayish tan head. Flavors are wood, smoke, dark malt, sweet caramel and sweet roasted qualities, some peat and earth. Pretty good duration on a medium palate. Tastes like camping on a cool fall or spring day. Pretty good.
