Sample at the brewery. Aroma of light piny hops, wood, bread, and something akin to burnt grass. Tastes of bread, pilsner malt, and light roast at first and finishes with more pine and mild bitterness. Lingering tastes of wood and toast. Nice mild beer. Interesting how it’s classified as an EPA and not an APA, but I guess it is less citrusy and floral than say Sierra Nevada with more of a bread and toast mix. Hits all the marks right.

Sampled at Mondial de la Biere. Nice earthy hops, biscuity malt flavor. Decent for a pale ale but not my favorite.

Appearance: Pours a mostly clear, pale copper body with a sudsy white head. Good lacing, too. Smell: Toasted nuts with a bit of caramel and some light soapy, floral hop notes. Taste: Light caramel malt sweetness with more of those toasted nuts. Hops, though relatively mild, provide flavors of grapefruit and lemon. The taste of pine appears just before the brief, bitter finish. Mouthfeel: Medium-thin body. Mild carbonation. Drinkability: It’s okay!

Pours a dark, clear amber with a frothy off-white head. The aroma is fairly muted with a light nuttiness and a faint hoppy spiciness. Medium-bodied with an odd nutty-metallic finish, the flavor is sweet malts with a nutty, bitter finish and a metallic aftertaste. This Pale starts off well enough, but the finish keeps this one from being a repeat performer.

Gotta agree with EithCubes, very sweet hoppy floral aroma. Bitter and malty sweet going down, nice finish.

Bottle. Sweet hoppy aroma, floral with lychee and some light grapefruit. Clear pale orange with another huge soapish beige head. Predominately yeasty taste, lightly malty but skewed toward the hops. Spicy with a touch of toast malt and nuttiness. Caramel and florality. Thin body, slightly hoppy aftertaste. Easy-drinking, but not really feeling this one.

12 oz bottle, bottled the 2nd week of March. Clear amber with a thin white head. Nose is sweet caramel malt and earthy hops. Toasty malt and mild earth flavors. Fairly well balanced. Just a bit weak in the finish, when a slight citrus bite shows up. Solid.

Rating is average of 2 tastings - bottle and keg
355ml bottle (Pikkulintu, Helsinki , American Week 2007).
Typical unsophisticated US style overrelyance on hops to carry a beer. Unbalanced, lacking a full malty body, and instead being sticky and sweet. (4-3-5-3-12=2.7)
Keg (Pikkulintu, Helsinki, American Weeks 2009)
Pleasant, gingery, hoppy. OK quaff. Sherbet finish, sweet palate. Nice. (6-4-7-3-13=3.3)
