| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 5/10 | 4/5 | 14/20 | Feb 26, 2007 I love the aroma of this beer. A great mix of hops and roasted malt. Smells of caramel dominate with notes of pine, herbs and dough. Head is fizzy and mostly diminishing and the color is a red/brown. The flavor was a disapointing one dimensionally bitter. I expected sweetness but there really was none. The palate was light to medium and dry, and the carbonation was fizzy. While a very good drinking beer, the flavor could have been a little more complex. Sir+Drinksalot (30), Iowa, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 17, 2007 Has a nice earthy and piney flavor with a good hop finish. A bit of a citrus/grapefruity flavor. I really like this ale after it pours from the bottle into a pint glass and leave sit for a few minutes. Room temp brings out a more sustained body and finish of this fine beer. Thanks for reading. ogglethorp (890), Ohio, USA
| 3.4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 15/20 | Feb 14, 2007 Tap. Pours a hazy amber color with a medium sized off white head. Aroma is toasted malts, some citrus and floral hops. Flavor is caramel, floral hops, pine. Palate is medium bodied, medium carbonation, slightly sweet body with a slightly bitter finish. Decent stuff. 2beerguys (299), North Shore, Massachusetts, USA
| 3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 12/20 | Feb 14, 2007 The DPA pours a cloudy amber color and settles into a deep clear amber hue. The off white head was average in size and mostly diminishing with no lacing. The nose detected a presence of toasted malts with hints of resin. The nose didn’t detect anything overly appealing, but we ventured on to the taste. The initially harsh bitter taste was eventually followed by a light sweet taste for a long duration. Smooth and creamy on the palate with soft carbonation, the DPA had a stronger presence on the palate than we expected. The DPA is more robust than the average pale ale that we have sampled, but it’s still not on par with the Sierra Nevada Pale Ale – our pale ale of choice.

| 3.2 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 5/10 | 5/5 | 6/10 | 3/5 | 13/20 | Jan 30, 2007 Pours an average sized, white, creamy, head that is mostly lasting. The body is hazy and amber, orange, and red in color. It has a creamy texture that is nice. It is medium bodied with light carbonation. I picked up hints of sweet malt, I think caramel, and spruce or pine hops in the aroma. The balance between hop bitterness and malt sweetness is so equal that neither one sticks out over the other. The flavor is balanced, you get sweet malt and bitter hop at the same time. The duration is somewhat short.
It is not for those looking for a pale ale bursting with hop bitterness. Overall a good beer.
