| 4.1 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 5/5 | 8/10 | 5/5 | 16/20 | Jul 1, 2009 22oz bottle with gold foil. Pours hazy golden yellow with a tall, thick, white creamy head. Poured into a Witbier Tumbler, lots of lacing on this one. Huge aromas of yeast, lemons and wheat, a nice big touch of spiciness. Lots of clove. Some kind of fruit rind, maybe banana. Or even pineapple core. Light grilled sweet corn husks. Flavor is extremely hearty. Very full bodied. This is big chewy beer. Sweet wheat malt. Loads of spice. A nice cinnamon tingle of mouthfeel without that particular flavor. Hints of straw. Very sweet and still with lots of ABV. This is a really bold beer. ChainGangGuy (2592), Kennesaw, Georgia, USA

Appearance: Pours out a hazed, straw-color yellow body with a large, lusciously foamy, white head.
Smell: Aromatic nose of soft white wheat with some sweetish tones of sugar-coated banana and particularly spiked, pungent notes of coriander and bitter orange peel.
Taste: Faintly tangy, lightly sweet wheat with a meager brushing of wildflower honey. Fresh florals and some sweet banana. Earthy, spicy coriander and zesty Curaçao orange peel. Lightly spicy hops with a mild, though cleansing, bitterness. Just a touch of puckering acidity. Faint vanilla upon warming. Blends of yeast, citrus, and spice prior to the drying, spicy, warming, downright fluffy finish.
Mouthfeel: Medium-plus body. Medium-plus carbonation. Fairly creamy mouthfeel.
Drinkability: Surprisingly good. Typically, I find these Double-fied, Imperialized witbiers to be a disheartening mess, but this one was actually fairly enjoyable. Nice work on that, GD. 17thfloor (1500), Chicago, Illinois, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 5/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Sep 12, 2009 22oz bottled on 6.3.09. Massive amount of sediment on the bottom of the bottle. Wow, great pour for a Wit, cloudy glowing light orange with a super tall thick foamy frothy white meringue-like head, perfect. Aroma is a pleasant balance of spice and richly sweet wheat, seemingly creamy, corriander, touch of bright lemon, delicate but balanced by a creamy fullness, easily one of the best Wit’s I’ve ever smelled. Wow, finally a double-wit that actually still tastes like a Belgian Wit, most of these attempts come out syrupy and disgusting, not so here. Flavor follows aroma but is not quite as crisp as that would indicate, more on the creamy fruity side, very yeasty, chalky, tons of yeast, that meaty kind of yeast, would love a bit of citrus, fairly plain-jane vanilla type flavor, alcohol is there and sits on the tongue after swallowing, coriander is lighter, chalky finish. Fantastically DRY!!! Medium bodied, creamy, heavy fluffy with fine spread out sharp carbonation. Nice job GD! This seems like the perfect base for a strong fruit beer hint hint. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 25, 2009 22 oz. from Greens on Ponce De Leon. Nice haze yellow appearance. Nice head as well. Looks like a damn good witbier to me. Translucent, not that transparent crap! Heavy yeast aroma. Very pungent beer. Fruit comes through as well in the aroma, but this, at least to me, seems to be heavily dominated by the yeast aroma, but it is a nice aroma. Not a very nuanced aroma, but still nice. Slight acidity as the label says, and then a slight bittering finish. Very forthcoming flavor. Just in your face with the fruit, acidic citrus, and then yeast to top it all off. The acidity makes everything taste very sharp. More of that orange/banana/yeast flavor comes out. As others have noticed this is very interesting. I like it a lot actually. Just an in your face kind of wit. I don’t think they were trying to be subtle. Finishes smooth; this is unexpected considering the sharp taste at first. Pretty good brew. | 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Nov 14, 2009 A: Poured with a huge, rocky, white head that hung around for a fair bit before gradually dissipating. Nice lacing. Body is dark yellow and very cloudy.
S: Aroma is of light yeast, coriander, citrus, orange, and pepper. Very spicy, actually... a little more spice and it’d be overdoing it, but this works well. There’s a light presence of alcohol as well.
T: Quite a nice flavor with the spices and coriander, and quite refreshing. To be honest, the alcohol is hidden very well... almost TOO well, if you ask me.
M: Medium-bodied and creamy, with a soft carbonation.
D: This beer is way too drinkable at 8%+... but I think one or two would be enough, as the spices may get a little overpowering if you keep chugging them back. poisoneddwarf (207), Rathdrum, Idaho, USA
| 3.9 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 2/10 | 5/5 | 9/10 | 5/5 | 18/20 | Sep 7, 2009 22 oz bottle. Beautiful, masterful take on a classic Belgian style. Very spicy on the back of the throat. If it weren’t for the aroma, which wasn’t all that great, this beer would have scored much higher. If this didn’t say it came from Colorado right there on the label, I would say this came straight from a Trappist Monastery. scraff (1954), Baltimore, Maryland, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Jul 20, 2009 22 oz. – The Wine Source. Hazy gold, thick creamy white head. Spiced lemon meringue and sourdough bread aromas warm to soft swirls of peppered pear. Thick bready and dry spicy coriander flavors round with a hint of pepper and sweet orange zest. ABV heat chimes in well. Medium bodied, soft carbonation, dry spiced finish. Interesting take on the style, but I likely won’t revisit... egajdzis (3631), Spring Mount, Pennsylvania, USA
| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 15/20 | Aug 30, 2009 Hazy golden color with a small, white head that left nice lacing on the glass. Aroma of coriander, orange peel, toasted malts, citrus fruits, honey, and light spices. Taste of toffee malts, citrus fruits, toasty yeast, lemongrass, honey, and light alcohol in the finish. Seemed drier than others are saying, and really reminded us of a saison.
