Commercial Description:
Think of it as a hefeweizen’s older brother. A hearty mix of wheat and dark German barley malts gives it a medium body and muddy brown hue, while our proprietary yeast strain provides the signature notes of banana and clove. If you like wheat beers, come to the Dunkel side. You won’t be disappointed. Just don’t put any lemon in it. 6.4% ABV.

Thin head of sloppy bubbles. Varying sized and all over the place. A little bit of sweetness and wheat in the aroma. Light roastyness too. Color is a cloudy dark amber. Sickly sweet flavor with some roastyness, wheat and a hint of banana. Bit of chalkyness from the wheat. Finishes sweet and malty. Not a vey good brew

Appearance: Pours a auburn/mahogany red with a sturdy white strip of foam at the top. Aroma: Faint whifs of wheat bread. Taste: Roasted caramel and wheat. Has some pear and banana fruitiness. Light traces of banana and mildly bitter hops in the finish. Mouthfeel: Rather thin. Overall: I was looking for something bolder and heartier with this beer. It’s very tame in my opinion.

Bottle: Pours a hazy brown-orange with a thin beige head. Aroma is fruity, spicey, and a little yeast. Flavor is crisp with wheat, yeast, cloves, and more citrus. Finishes clean and lightly spicey. Fun.

Man, this has nothing that I look for in a dunkelweizen - no hearty, nutty character - no balancing wheaty tang/tartness - none of the complex phenols - this is pretty much a medium sweet, slightly more hearty amber ale - there is a little bit of banana and yeasty character to let you know that they at least TRIED to make a dunkelweizen - as a beer, it’s not terrible, but it’s certainly not what it’s advertised as.

Bottle. Murky rust colored body with a short tan head. Aroma is bready malts, caramel, wheat, chocolate covered bananas, and candy. Taste is sweet malts, caramel, wheat, dark bread, bananas, and soft candied fruit. Body is bubbly and light-medium. Finishes with more chocolate covered banana, wheat notes, caramel, light earthy notes and dark bread. More sweet notes coming through here. The sweetness works with this, though. Not bad!
