Commercial Description:
Think of it as a hefeweizen’s older brother. A hearty mix of wheat and dark German barley malts gives it a medium body and muddy brown hue, while our proprietary yeast strain provides the signature notes of banana and clove. If you like wheat beers, come to the Dunkel side. You won’t be disappointed. Just don’t put any lemon in it. 6.4% ABV.

Bottle from Liquid Solutions. Dark coppery amber color with a three finger frothy beige head. Aromas of dark malt/wheat, clove and banana. Near full bodied with frothy carbonation. Flavors of banana, chocolate, clove, and roasted grain. Actually dry. Approaching astringent. Pretty darn good.

Cloudy mahogany brown pour with a medium size creamy off-white head, decent retention. Suspended yeast sediment is visible. Aroma is banana and clove, nicely balanced with a hint of bubblegum, medium malty grain. Spicy banana and clove on the tongue with what seems to be a bit of an off-flavor on the finish - can’t quite put my finger on it. Medium body, creamy, light-moderate carbonation. A decent beer, definitely have had better from this brewery.

Bomber pours a cloudy cola brown body with a small beige head. Aroma of clove, banana, toasted caramel, and bread. Taste mirrors aroma but with more complexity. Yeast, hazelnut, wheat, and pepper join the toasted caramel, ripe banana, and clove. Flavors improve as it warms. Nicely done.

Slightly cloudy reddish-brown pour with a thin cap of bubbly off-white head. A good bit of carbonation pushes the aroma of the banana and clove mentioned on the label along with the standard malty nose. Tasty at first with a nice balance between the sweet banana, the hops, and the wheat, cut by the yeasty doughy flavor. However, the initial great taste was brought down a notch by an increasing sweetness with each successive sip. Not overly fizzy, very smooth in that regard, but with a slightly sticky film on the tongue.

22 oz bottle. Pours a reddish amber with a medium off white head that quickly diminishes to a thin film that leaves a little lacing.

The aroma is sweet bready malts, bananas and cloves.

The flavor is sweet sugary dark fruits, molasses and some fruitcake spices. The mouthfeel is medium to full bodied with smooth carbonation.

Overall, not my favorite style and this one is too far on the sweet side for me.

Bomber. Deep copper colored body with a yellowish khaki colored head. The aroma was bubblegum and sweet molasses. There was also a little bit of fresh bread dough. One of the most inviting dunkelwiezens I have ever smelled. A little bit of smoke follows a lightly sweet bubblegum. The body is a little sticky, but that seems right for this brew. Good, but far form great as there is a little bit of green apple that comes through with more drinking.

22oz. bottle. Caramel malt aroma, sweet, doughy, lightly citric and roasty with notes of toasted wheat bread, banana, faint cocoa, dusty yeast and faint spiciness. Thoroughly cloudy medium brown color with reddish highlights and a fine, lasting, light tan head. Flavor is predominantly darkly sweet and malty, the sugary caramel tones existent throughout, along with faint bitterness, chocolate, nut, tangy citrus, clove and other mild spices. Moderately effervescent, active palate, body is medium. Omnipresent sweetness is a bit distracting but otherwise enjoyable.

Brewed in the USA...... Pours a hazy chestnut color with a small off white head. Aroma of cloves, wheat and malts .Taste is of banans’s, spices, cloves and a hint of barley malts. The mouthfeel was medium in body and kind of average overall for Great Divide.
