Commercial Description:
Espresso Oak Aged Yeti Imperial Stout is a new addition to the Yeti clan. A generous infusion of Denver’s own Pablo’s espresso adds yet another layer of complexity to this beer, combining with the vanilla oak character, intense roasty maltiness and bold hop profile to create a whole new breed of mythical creature. It’s official, you can now have Yeti with breakfast.

Suggested food pairings: Breakfast burrito, eggs Benedict, hash browns, cheesecake, creme brulee.

22oz Huge thanks to xnoxhatex for trekking this one back from Michigan for me! Pours a perfect oily, but not too thick, black with a great grayish mocha creamy froth. I forgot how strongly hopped GD’s yeti’s are and I seem to have caught this one right in between. Great enticing aroma, dark dark chocolate, fresh espresso, slightly faded piney hops, lighter oak. Flavor follows aroma, very very very dark bitter chocolate and ashy espresso roast offset by some piney hops that just about to turn 8.5. Not sure if it was just the last batch of oak aged yeti I had, but it was way way too oaky with intense vanilla, that isn’t so much present here. Dark bitter chocolate, espresso and hops with a little bit of oak character and thats about it, very good. Nice little alcohol and hop bite in the finish with a lingering bitter chocolate aftertaste. Medium/full bodied, closer to full of course, smoother chunky carbonation with a bit of a fizz 4.5. Solid all around, nobody can hop a big stout like Great Divide. Damn those hops are good... sit on the tongue for a long while... tickles. Thanks Devon!

22oz bottled 02/13/05 - Aroma of vanilla, chocolate covered espresso beans, burnt malts and fresh green hops. Pours black with a huge brown head and great lacing. Flavor is a stronger version of the aroma but not over the top. Palate is incredibly smooth for such an intense brew. Great full flavored and easy drinking beer.

What can I say that hasn’t already been said? It’s a near perfect beer, with the oak and espresso flavors abound. Instead of repeating everyone else, I’ll hit the low point: the oak and espresso are a little overpowering near the end. Really now, I’m just nitpicking, this beer is the jam.

2009 Bottle - thanks sigma23. Pours a very dark brown with a thick, creamy brown head. Lots of sticky lacing. Aroma is rich with espresso and cocoa. Some lighter vanilla and barrel notes. The taste is huge with espresso, roast, more chocolate than the aroma would suggest, and vanilla. The oaky barrel notes were a nice compliment. More espresso in one of my favs means is certainly a good, if not great thing!

Bomber from Liquid Solutions. Pours opaque brn/blk with a multifinger dark tan head. Strong coffee and chocolate aromas. Medium body with smooth carbonation. The flavor is certainly mocha. The finish is a combo of coffee and darkish chocolate. There’s a fair amount of bitter in the finish, and it’s probably hop, given the strength. Vanilla is detectable with continued sipping.

Bottle at a few months of age.

Deep beautiful brown with red highlights, dark-cream head. Lovely sweet aroma with mocha and oatmeal and molassas, espresso and chocolate. Tons of chocolate and oatmeal cookie in the flavor, coffee in there for sure (though it does veer towards those bottled Starbucks drinks), hops to bitter but not add any untoward citrus or fruitiness. On the sweet side but not absolutely over the top. Full thick mouthfeel without the heat but with enough body that you know this beer means business. Extremely drinkable, accessible, enjoyable impy stout. Mmmm. The wife says it makes a kick-ass beer float. Gotta try that with the next glass.
